Yesterday’s results
For the first time this week, a BTS leader managed to hold onto the top spot for more than one day. Co-leaders bailtard and oldeguy extended their streaks to 29 games on the strength of David Wright, who delivered an RBI single in the third inning of New York’s victory over Philadelphia.
The co-leaders were among 7.7% of BTS competitors, including third-place fan lupah99, who chose Wright, making him the day’s second most-picked player. But not all fans were so lucky. Albert Pujols, the day’s most popular pick, went 0-for-2 with a walk and a sacrifice fly in the Cardinals’ loss to the Brewers. His hitless performance halted the streaks of 8.2% of BTS competitors, including yesterday’s third-place fan justablooper.
Four competitors entered yesterday’s action tied for fifth place with 24-game streaks. The knot was quickly unraveled, though, when tom_cicini (Jermaine Dye) and blazin19 (Chase Utley) were the victims of hitless performances from their picks.
Yesterday’s Top 5 most selected players
1. Albert Pujols (STL): 8.2%, 0-for-2
2. David Wright (NYM): 7.7%, 1-for-3
3. Jose Reyes (NYM): 6.5%, 0-for-2
4. Chase Utley (PHI): 5.1%, 0-for-4
5. Ryan Braun (MIL): 5.0%, 4-for-4
BTS SEEMS TO BE DOWN. ITS 11:20AM AND IT HAS BEEN LIKE THIS FOR THE LAST 15 MINUTES. IT SAYS DATA UNAVAILABLE.
Can somebody please explain somebody like Wily Mo Pena can still be selected when he’s been on the DL since July 13. That’s 2 weeks!! And he’s out for the year, so he’s not coming off it. So each day I see hundreds of people picking Pena, it makes me wonder how that is pulled off. Plus I’d like to understand that strategy.

Jeterford, you’re one of the guys who does the Pena thing. Care to explain how you’re doing that and why.
YEAH. I SAW OTHERS DOING IT. YOU HAD TO PICK HIM BEFORE HE GOES ON DL. YOU CAN CHOOSE YOUR PICK 10 DAYS IN ADVANCE. THAT WAY IF YOU’RE IFFY ABOUT THAT DAY’S CHOICE, YOU DON’T MOVE ON BUT YOU DON’T DIE FOR THAT DAY EITHER.
Who is everybody picking for tomorrow? I just found out about this game. It seems pretty easy. I wish I found out this game earlier when my favorite player, Ian Kinsler, was on a long hitting streak.
It seems like he is about to start another one now.
Dason34325 – that is asuming you can tell when he is going to stop hitting. he went on for 4 days after the all star break of no hitting. its lot harder than it looks when you don’t have the benefit of hindsight.
Jeterford, it’s been more than 10 days. So thus my question is how can you pick Pena when he’s been ineligible for at least 12 days? Plus, why would you pick him continuously? There’s almost always a good option every day except maybe an occasional Monday or Thursday.
sturt78, NOT REALLY. HE DIDN’T DL UNTIL THE DAY AFTER THE ALL STAR BREAK. TOO BUSY THESE DAYS TO LOOK FOR HITTERS.
How do you activate mlb mobile alerts when you reach a twenty game hitting streak?
jeterford, good pick with B-rob today. How bout Chipper for the next 2 weeks? That should get you where you want to go which is nowhere.
Kinsler 2 for 5 again today. 4 days of 2 hits in a row. Hopefully he does this 56 games more.
