After overtaking bassman for the top spot, BTS leader eduneversaydie improved on his gains yesterday when Orlando Cabrera went 1-for-5. The White Sox shortstop slugged a two-run homer in the fifth inning of a 13-5 win over Seattle, keeping eduneversaydie’s streak alive at 36 games.

Young_275.jpgA rare day off for Jose Reyes kept second-place jpsteeleaz69 at 33 games, while a 2-for-5 performance from Jermaine Dye pushed both third-place competitors knightbomb and smithdog52 to 31 games. With bruinscup72 dropping to sixth place after picking injured second baseman Ian Kinsler, and kehsiao being eliminated from the Top 5, scasmflop was able to take sole control of fifth place, thanks to a 1-for-5 night from Michael Young. Two other Top 10 competitors were rewarded by Young, including sixth-place pupway10 and ninth-place jfb17.

The number of fans still able to reach 57 games fell to 272.

I like the new stat. Hard to believe only 272 people are still alive at the moment and i’m one of them lol. Not only that, i made the top 25, which is something i’m surprised about. Prior to my current streak i never broke 10 games in my 2-3 years of playing this. So i hope that’s some inspiration to those who never seem to be able to get a long hitting streak going to keep at it. I don’t expect it to go much longer but it would be awesome if luck stayed on my side a while longer. This is pretty fun though and has gotten me more interested in watching baseball.

Anyways as for today, i’m struggling at who to pick again, prolly cause of the new pressure of knowing how many people are left. Pujols is a good option, but he’s 0-7 in the last 2 games he’s faced the pirates when Ian Snell has started. Ichiro is facing a rookie lefty but ichiro seems to struggle a bit against lefties from time to time. Pedroia, Theriot, and Abreu round out my top 5. It would be horrible if 4 out of 5 got a hit and the 1 guy i picked didn’t but i guess thats life.

Overanalyzing FTL. I’ll just draw a pick out of a hat or something

I would go with Ryan Theriot today. I just came off a 15-game hit streak yesterday, with Mark Teixeira, who of course was on deck as the Angels lost.

He went 0 for 2 with 2 walks, so I do feel kind of jipped, since he didn’t get many opportunities.

I wish I knew how many fans could still have hit 57 going into yesterday.

    00jvairo_7,

The next drop-off today is at 367, so a good estimate of the number still alive yesterday was between 350-400.

my pick so far for tommorow is Peralta but theres like an 70% chance i’ll change that.

orlando cabrera and dye seem like good picks for chicago. Berkman, Theriot, Jeter, and Roberts are all worth a look too. (funny how theres like 1000 baseball players and u can refer to these guys by their last name and know who u’re talking about.)

I stressed it earliar, and all 5 of my picks ended up getting hits, so i might just pick whoever i think is hot tommorow. I know Ichiro made a lot of people sweat today getting his first hit with 2 outs in the 9th though.

I eventually changed from peralta to aviles and he got a 1st inning single =). The reason i changed is because its hard to pick a 4th place hitter or higher at home. It seems like they’d lose an at-bat more often than not if they’re winning since they dont bat in the ninth inning. But it does seem to work out for most people, Pujols,Chipper, Vlad, Berkman, and Manny seem to keep getting hits despite that.

lol peralta just hit a 2 run homerun in the bottom of the 1st. Seems like everyone i think about picking these days gets a hit.
