Today’s recommended picks

Evan Longoria, 3B, Rays
Reached base safely in past 18 G; .373 AVG on road in ’09

Lance Berkman, 1B, Astros
20-for-42 (.476 AVG) since ’04 vs. Rockies starter Jason Marquis

Ryan Zimmerman, 3B, Nationals
.381 AVG during 30-G hit streak

BTS all-time leader: Michael Karatzia, 49
MLB all-time leader: Joe DiMaggio, 56

Yesterday’s results

tyrules made a wise selection of Toronto’s Aaron Hill, getting a homer and single to extend his BTS-high streak to 28 games. jpburnett232 kept pace a game behind by picking Seattle’s Ichiro Suzuki (1-for-4), while jjdemarest took over third place at 25 games thanks to a 2-for-5 performance from sizzling Tampa Bay speedster Carl Crawford.

Oddly, you had to go all the way down to 25th place to find someone who picked Washington’s Ryan Zimmerman. The hot-hitting third baseman extended his own hit streak to 30 games yesterday, but apparently the BTS leaders feel the law of averages will catch up with him before long.

Yesterday’s Top 5 most selected players

1. Albert Pujols (STL): 11.8%, 1-for-4
2. Nick Markakis (BAL): 6.5%, 1-for-4
3. Ryan Zimmerman (WSH): 6.4%, 2-for-5
4. Evan Longoria (TB): 5.5%, 2-for-4
5. Ryan Braun (MIL): 2.7%, 1-for-4
