Yesterday’s results

With recently featured contestant FROD having fallen from the top of the pack, j.harv8 took over as the BTS top dog and extended his streak to 33 games with Michael Young’s 1-for-3 performance yesterday.

bbennett71032 got just enough from Ichiro Suzuki (1-for-5) to become only the second BTS player to own a hit streak of at least 30 games. Braves10, who picked Ryan Braun (1-for-3), and CheckMark, who went with Joe Mauer (2-for-5), are tied for third place at 28 games.

Yesterday’s Top 5 most selected players

1. David Wright (NYM): 9.9%, 0-for-3
2. Joe Mauer (MIN): 8.2%, 2-for-5
3. Ryan Braun (MIL): 7.7%, 1-for-3
4. Ichiro Suzuki (SEA): 7.3%, 1-for-5
5. Albert Pujols (STL): 7.2%, 1-for-3

Here’s my plan: take batting lessons, make a big-league roster, pick myself and hit in 50 or so consecutive games, and get someone who knows what their doing to pick hitters on my off team’s off days. That, I believe, is my only chance of winning Beat the Streak. As it is, I’d be happy to take the lead among the four members of the Levi Ghetto Cats (I’m tied for second at eight; our leader, hambone, has 10).

That’s my goal – to be the leader of the Levi Ghetto Cats. This is a fun game – so many factors to consider – which hitter is hot , how does he do vs. the starter, does he get at lot of AB’s (few walks, lead-off hitter, visiting team ), how hitter does at home or away,in day games, vs right or lefty. Tend to pick a guy on a team that’s favored in the betting line and the game has a high run total – 10 or higher. Gotta think the bookies know something.

That would not work perkins, because MLB disqualifies you from playing in the contest at all, if you are on, even a minor league team, much more so for being on a major league team and picking yourself.

Perkins and I are members of the Hash House Harriers in Little Rock. To paraphrase Barney Fife we have 2 rules :
    1. Obey all rules
    2. There are no rules
So if Perk wants to play in the majors and play Beat the Streak, I say let him .
