Today’s recommended picks

Evan Longoria, 3B, Rays
.500 AVG (5-for-10) lifetime vs. Orioles starter Mark Hendrickson

Victor Martinez, C, Red Sox
.500 AVG (4-for-8) lifetime vs. Angels starter Ervin Santana

Torii Hunter, OF, Angels
.455 AVG (5-for-11) since ’04 vs. Red Sox starter Josh Beckett

BTS all-time leader: Michael Karatzia, 49
MLB all-time leader: Joe DiMaggio, 56

Yesterday’s results

enronshorttrader went with Joe Mauer for the second day in a row, a wise move considering that the Twins backstop came through with a pair of hits for the second day in a row. The performance moved the BTS leader’s streak up to 39 games.

GBaby remained in second place, his 35-game streak unchanged following the selection of Manny Ramirez, who didn’t play. While that scenario would normally give other contestants the chance to catch up, the two fans directly behind him, beashane and mcdonald6, both saw their 33-game streaks snapped.

That left khreynolds as the holder of third place, at 30 games. larrythemailman1 moved into the fourth spot with his 29-game streak and j-m-peterson locked down fifth place, at 28 games.

Yesterday’s Top 5 most selected players

1. Ichiro Suzuki (SEA): 8.9%, 1-for-3
2. Derek Jeter (NYY): 7.1%, 0-for-3
3. David Wright (NYM): 5.2%, 3-for-5
4. Chase Utley (PHI): 4.8%, 1-for-3
5. Joe Mauer (MIN): 4.6%, 2-for-3

I went with Jayson Werth v. Detwhiller.
    Fingers are crossed.
Hoping that Dethwiller does not do a CC Sabathia impersanation tonight!

    Pedroia also looked OK.

A big tip of my Cub cap to hammanm….Who posted that he liked Placido Polanco today v. Grienke KC. Grienke’s recent ERA is a Walter Johnson like, microscopic 0.38—-but Polanco went 1 -3. Proves that you do not put together a 43 game streak as hammanm did earlier this year without knowing how to make clutch picks. Hammanm – do you still like Torii Hunter on Friday?

I am going to stick with Hunter. This game is more luck than anything and more often than not, when I second guess and change my initial pick that is when I get an o’fer from the player I end up selecting.

Hammanm – Your comment on switching players is on target.
My last switch was when I took Johnny Damon and he had an o-fer v. Verlander. That ended my 12 game streak.
FRiday – Guys – Any ideas besides Torii Hunter v. Tommy Hunter?
How does Jacoby Ellsbury look to you?
FYY – Stay away from the Cub – Cardinals game – Lilly v. Smoltz – tough to figure this game out. Lilly as been doing well – Smoltz is a “wild card?”
HR Beat the Streak – I’m going with Alexi Ramirez v. Hochevar KC. Game at CWSOX a hitters park for sure. Ramirez hits him well. May not be a bad bts pick too – he usually bats 8th though.

Hamman I will agree with you on that statement 110%. Every single time this year that I changed my pick I lost my streak. ALWAYS stick with your gut as it’s never ever wrong. Tomorrow my gut says Jeter and I’m sticking to it.
