Aramis Ramirez, 3B, Cubs
.429 AVG (6-for-14) since ’04 vs. Giants starter Brad Penny

Derrek Lee, 1B, Cubs
.462 AVG (6-for-13) lifetime vs. Giants starter Brad Penny

BTS all-time leader: Michael Karatzia, 49
MLB all-time leader: Joe DiMaggio, 56

Yesterday’s results

It was one of those days in which the BTS gods seemingly conspired against the game’s leaders.

First, GBaby was knocked from the top spot following his selection of Kevin Youkilis. Youk certainly had his chances in a victory over the Royals, but he could only muster a walk in five plate appearances. The o-fer ended GBaby’s streak at 40 games, tied for the eighth-longest mark of the season.

Next, second-place contestant larrythemailman1 and stikid610, who was tied for third, also fell from the pack. The culprit behind the demise of their respective 35- and 33-game streaks was Matt Kemp, who also managed a lone walk in five plate appearances vs. the Nationals.

That left struck00, who received a 1-for-4 performance from Matt Holliday to move up to 34 games, as the new top dog in the standings. It’s too late in the season for struck00 to topple DiMaggio’s record, but he still has a shot at tying TannerNielsen’s season mark of 45 games.

Yesterday’s Top 5 most selected players

1. Ichiro Suzuki (SEA): 9.7%, 2-for-4
2. Brian McCann (ATL): 6.0%, 1-for-5
3. Albert Pujols (STL): 4.1%, 1-for-4
4. Dustin Pedroia (BOS): 3.9%, 2-for-3
5. Clint Barmes (COL): 3.7%, 2-for-3

After yesterday’s train wreck, I’m going with Migeul Cabrera v. Tribe’s Carrasco.

I also went with Migeul Cabrera… There goes my 14 game streak… It was a toss up between him and Ichiro….Well there that old saying “Wait until next year”

Dan

Another year in the books and I am still the champ! Klayman- When do I get my sit down with the King?
Make it happen

Friday 9/25…………..
0 – 2 the last two days. There is only one way up from this abyss………
The “dragbunt v. Ichirio” challenge is ON!
I’m going to pick someone besides Ichrio “The Little Magican” Suzuki each day for the rest of the season to see who can put together a bigger streak in the last 10 days, me or Ichirio! I’m posting the odds that I can beat The Little Magician at 8-1 in his favor.
Today my pick is coming courtesy of hammanm. He posted his picks for the weekend a few days ago and took Alfredo Callaspo for today. When I saw the names and saw Callaspo, I thought hammanm was having some fun with us by slipping in a fake name on his list. Is Callaspo the drummer with the rock band Santanya?, or is he is a mid-fielder on the El Real Madrid Soccer team?, or is he the El Presidente of Bolivia? Well as it turns out he is the 2nd baseman on the KC Royals. He has been pretty hot so I’m going with him in my first day of the “dragbunt v. Ichirio Challenge.”
Let’s have some fun the last 10 days – post your wacky picks! Will someone step up and do an ABC challenge by taking a player with the last name A on day #1, B on day 2 etc. How about a country challenge by taking a player from a different country each day. Come on guys I know you can come up with some crazy ideas. How about 10 days of switch hitters, all lefties, all righties!
Remember – Always better to laugh than cry.
Good Luck to all today………….

Sat – 9/26
dragbunt v. Ichirio Challenge “Day 2″
I’m going with Shin Soo Choo of Tribe today. Berken of O’s looks hittable.
Yesterday’s Results – Ichirio and my pick, Callaspo, both got hits. We are tied at 1 game streaks each.
Good Luck to All today…….

Ichirio ejected on a ball/strike dispute with homeplate umpire Runge and he goes 0 – 3. His first ejection in 8 plus seasons. Now you know that Ichirio could have a “discussion” with an umpire about a ball/strike but even “The Little Magician” can’t take his bat and draw a line in the dirt as to where he thought the pick actually went!
His streak is now zero.
Go Shin Soo Choo!

I have no idea why that is not allowed. All he did was point. He did not show him up.

How is barring the action of pointing something out, facilitating discussion? What is easier? Pointing with your bat or saying, “the ball was 3 inches off the outside corner at the belt.”?

And why is a manager allowed to point, but a player is not? If it was about being “shown up,” the rules should be the same for both groups of players.

The Ichiro ejection……….
My feeling is that putting the line in the dirt can be seen by all 30,000 people at the game. This embarasses the umpire.
The “unwritten Rule” is that you can not do this.
Runge did call Ichirio out twice on the play. The raised his right hand to signal strike 3 and then gave a pump signal showing that it was strike 3 a few seconds later. Was he trying to showe up Ichirio?
What is the read on Runge as an umpire? His dad was an umpire too.
Ichirio went hitless on Sunday – Is this his first back to back hitless games this year.

Monday 9/28
The dragbunt v. Ichirio hitting streak challenge is about as exciting as watching paint dry.
Ichirio’s streak is at zero.’
dragbunt, took 0 -5 Rajai Davis on Sunday is now at zero.
How bad is your pick when he goes 0-5!
I’m going with Jacoby Ellsbury on Monday as he is 5 – 5 v. Jays hurler, Scott Richmond, game at Boston too.
