Tuesday’s recommended picks

Magglio Ordonez, OF, Tigers
.462 AVG (18-for-39) lifetime vs. Twins starter Scott Baker

Carlos Guillen, OF, Tigers
.407 AVG (11-for-27) lifetime vs. Twins starter Scott Baker

Jason Kubel, OF, Twins
.727 AVG (8-for-11) lifetime vs. Tigers starter Rick Porcello

BTS all-time leader: Michael Karatzia, 49
MLB all-time leader: Joe DiMaggio, 56

Yesterday’s results

Most of the front-runners fell from the top of the BTS pack over the weekend, leaving the leaderboard with some of its lowest numbers since the beginning of the season.

stongematt79 emerged as the new leader with a 21-game streak, with emld75 just behind him at 20 games.

Any attempts to set new all-time or season records are out the window at this point, but there’s still one more chance for fans to tack on a final game to their streaks with Tuesday’s AL tiebreaker between the Tigers and Twins.

Yesterday’s Top 5 most selected players

1. Joe Mauer (MIN): 9.8%, 0-for-3
2. Ichiro Suzuki (SEA): 8.8%, 1-for-3
3. Derek Jeter (NYY): 4.6%, 2-for-4
4. Magglio Ordonez (DET): 4.4%, 4-for-4
5. Albert Pujols (STL): 3.6%, 1-for-5

champion_88 thanks for posting your yearly stats – very complete.
Mine are not so complete but here goes:
178 days with player in the game
140 days with a hit
36 days with no hit
2 days with player not in the game.
78.6% success rate

I had 215 total hits.
You can check out your trophies in the “Results” drop down menu. Click on the “Trophy Room” icon and you get to your trophy page. Gives you a good idea of your results in all games you played.
Does not seem to by any restriction on how many times you can take the same player for post season BTS.

Tuesday 10/6
Tigers have a tough asignment v. Twins in MINN.
I’m going with Jason Kubel to get a hit in this Twins victory.
Rookie Starter – Porcello DET is in a spot that could make him a hero.
For the start of LDS – I’m watching the weather at each site before making picks. NYY, PHIL — night games = cold weather and hitting do not go together. LA looks better for hitters. Phils hitters have had some hits v. ROX Jimenez.
Is it a day/night game in Phil?
CARDS Carpenter has been lights out lately – I’m not taking any Dodgers in Game 1.
This is going to be tough each day. Let’s help each other out. A 10 game streak means opening day tickets!

I am going with Kubel… hope to end the season on a high note !

Dan

I’m going with Ordonez on Tuesday.

I believe the winner for the hitters though for October is just the longest streak. Only one person wins, unlike in September where everyone that reached the threshold won.

They just set a minimum of 10 games because if it was really hard, they would not want to give a prize away for a 3-game hit streak.

I wish they would go back to World Series tickets as the prize, instead of All-Star and Opening Day tickets!!!
