Beat the Streak Report: Thursday, May 5
Andre Ethier took Wednesday afternoon off with an elbow ouchie, hitting the pause button for 12.3 percent of all Streakers and three of the top five.
The Dodgers also have an open date today, meaning that current leader jngmz733 (28 games) can match AE at 29 games with a correct pick.
“Jngmz” — could it be? Is there a real live MLB superstar making Streak picks alongside the rest of us lowly mortals? If they pick Shin-Soo or Asdrubal against Brett Anderson today, we’re launching an official BTS Report investigation. Conspiracy theories might abound …
“Show us the birth certificate” … because only contestants who are of legal age of majority in their jurisdictions of residence are eligible for BTS prizes. “Release the photos” … of Jeanmar making a pick on his computer. “We never landed on the moon” … no, seriously, that one is legit.
Anyway, Mr. Gomez — if that is your real name! — there are plenty of non-Indians suggestions in …

Leaderboard time!
Still no Streaker name-drops here until someone beats Ethier. Andre is also temporarily ineligible for fun-facting because he took a voluntary vacation day in the middle of a 20-plus-game hit streak. Hey, we don’t make the rules. J.K., we definitely do make ’em, and it’s quite the power trip. No yelling on the bus!
Jeanmar Gomez fun fact (did you ever think you’d see the day?): On May 29, 2009, Gomez threw the first perfect game in Double-A Akron Aeros history.
Top MLB streakers
Andre Ethier: 29 games
Jacoby Ellsbury: 13 games
Adrian Gonzalez: 11 games
Elvis Andrus: 10 games
Matt Holliday: 10 games
Ben Zobrist: 10 games

“gottaweartheshades actually made a pick today”. 00Liber, that statement you made yesterday made me smile today. I see that Ichiro went 0-fer and the DL-game for gottaweartheshades is now over, at least for the next few weeks.
To all: Back-to-back early locks. Rain not a player today, except possibly midway thru the game in KC
glad to make you smile. too bad i got reset today so I’m not smiling.
Hey can you do Sundays post?
Sure, remind me Saturday
Is the BTS report author joking around or could this be true? Can an active MLB player be playing this game? Is it allowed? This guy is starting today vs OAK!!!
We don’t know who the leader is so it could be anybody. MLB employees CANNOT play this game at all so we are all good if it is who Dave says it is. They definitely can’t win this since they work for MLB.
Just to clarify… MLB employess can play, they’re just not eligible to win anything. Dave( iheartstrazzy) plays and so does his replacement blogger, Ian ( who had a 29? gamer last season)
I’m going with Michael Young to get to 10.
Highest no selection is on page 8 with a streak of 15, that streak will head back to 0.
While I think it’s impressive that Renteria is batting so well against Lannan, I’m not sure why that matters when the Reds are playing the ‘stros today.
The last 2 days have helped cull the overpopulated 20+ club of the Top2500. Was a low of 36 and high of 58 this week. Today, sits at 46 with 20+ games & just another 16 at 19 games trying to join the 20+ club. Pedroia’s DNP will pause quite a few today.
@Rampant, Those were Renteria’s numbers against Myers. He put the wrong name and team is all.

Nyger Morgan up for a day or two, now heading back to the DL most likely — broken finger. May mean Boggs returns back to the bigs; may want to monitor that if you picked Boggs for your DL-player over the next several days.
Michael Young singled in the 4th, onto 10! 🙂
