Beat the Streak Report: Thursday, May 19

Nobody likes rooting for a tie game in the late innings, but extra frames — and the extra at-bats that come with them — have saved many a Streaker over the last decade.

The Yankees and Orioles played 15 last night, and everyone who’s anyone* converted on at least one of their six-plus trips to the dish. Cano, Granderson, Adam Jones, Vlad … the list goes on. Of course, most of you were too intimidated by Bartolo Colon (partying like it’s 2005) and Zach Britton (partying like it’s 2015) to cash in on one of the 27 base knocks in this one.

It’s too bad, especially on a low-scoring night when only one your top-8 most trustworthy players — Joey Votto (partying in the USA) — actually delivered the Dominos. We really feel for you guys. And by “really feel for” we mean “are quietly snickering at.” Wait, who said that? Rude!

*Note: Nick Swisher, J.J. Hardy and Mark Reynolds rolled up for a night of fist-pumping at Club Anyone but were na-na’d by the bouncer due to weak hit/at-bat ratios and Swisher’s history of poor hair decisions.

Leaderboard time!

Buddycrise enjoyed a 1-for-4 day by Marty Prado, creeping to within one game of our season leader. Jngmz733‘s reign atop the standings has been long and memorable — especially the “0-for-0 No Selection” yesterday — but we could witness the passing of a very small torch this evening.

Top MLB streakers

Ramon Hernandez:  11 games

Jason Bartlett: 10 games

Austin Jackson:  10 games

Martin Prado: 10 games

Anyone notice the new “Season Stats” sub-menu on your “Results” navigation button once logged in? I think they are still playing with it, but I can’t figure it out right now. For example, it says …
    a. Under the summary, my streak rate is 63% for past 10 days. Should be 100% since I’m on a 10-game streak.
    b. Under my Top Streaks section, it shows I had a 4-gamer ended May 13th; obviously wrong since that was 6 days ago & I’ve got a 10-gamer.
    c. Under the top choices section I’ve no clue what that is. Maybe it shows my picks over the past 3 years? Otherwise, there are players in there I’ve never picked this year.

Maybe I hit those result way too soon. After refreshing it several times, the stats are changing each refresh; getting closer to correct.

I don’t have a Season Stats sub-menu. For me, Results includes only My Results and Trophy Room.

      • LaVolpe

Make sure you are accessing the 2011 bts not the 2010. The 2010 version had the trophy room has site has primarily a blue background whereas the 2011 is primarily green. Check the year in your URL

      • LaVolpe

It still works believe it or not. Change 2011 in your URL to 2010 to check it out.

Yep, that was the issue. Thanks. I had to refresh once to see the correct numbers. It’s amazing that I’ve picked 32 different players so far!

Highest “No Selection” 😛 pg# 1 with streak of 21 back to zero.
Yesterday’s Top2500 Reset rate was 45.84% with POLANCO reseting the most.
There was also 11.44% PPD due to players not playing. These streakers do not reset, but did not increase either.

You still have 1 more AB for sure, another AB will require some team hitting. All it takes is just 1 though. I’m starting to feel a bit uncomfortable with my pick; though I have at least 2 ABs left.

    • LaVolpe

And with my pick’s team leading by 1 at home, he is intentionally walked in 7th (0-3). My flirtation with a double digit streak is a short-lived one unless extras.

      • LaVolpe

Now you need just 1 extra hitter to reach base. Yep, Reyes. Liked everything about his chances today. Just got him on a bad day; but that can be said for all resets pretty much.

      • 00liber

One hit gets Ramon another crack.
Need a run from Wash to get Jose another bat. How bout Werth hitting a HR for me in HRBTS. GL to both of you.

    • LaVolpe

Another thing that irks me when during a reset when picking a home team player: due up in 9th, but 9th isn’t played. Guess I still have a slight chance at hoping WSH scores in top of their 9th, else onto interleague weekend with no pressure 😉

      • LaVolpe

Today definitely wasn’t my day. My secondary pick also just went 0-fer (G.Sanchez).

  4. 00liber

Well Ramon got that extra bat but unfortunately lined out to end the game.
Wash with runner on 3rd and 2outs. Only hood thing that would come from Reyes not getting another bat is the guy in 2nd place took him.

  5. nymets1979

A hit today would have brought me to within one of my season high. No pressure for the weekend now.

    • yanksgiantsdevils33

      A Rod PH for making him the only #### O fer on the entire team. Ever since I lost my 15 I can’t even reach 2. 😦 😦 😦 😦 😦

  6. champion_88

line drive single by Corey Hart in the 5th inning restarts my streak at 1!

I am sooo MAD I caved under pressure to use a “name” pick yesterday with Ellsbury, instead of going with Callaspo or Joyce.

I would be at 10 now, instead of 1!
