Beat the Streak Report: Thursday, June 9

The 13.4 percent of Streakers who reachiro’d for Ichiro came away disappointed last night, as the seven-time Major League hit king failed to convert against Gavin Floyd and the White Sox bullpen.

Paul Konerko and Ryan Braun — Messrs. Congeniality in the Wednesday popularity pageant — each rang the bell, though, pushing a combined 15.6 percent of all selectors one day closer to a 57-game BTS championship. Some of you may be asking if that championship comes with a fancy ring and a White House tour. Answer: Not officially, but we bet you could acquire some Kardashian-esque hand candy and a couple Amtrak tickets to D.C. with the $5.6 million grand prize.

Speaking of grand prizes, how about leahydpt? Our current leader saw their faith in Lance Berkman rewarded with a 1-for-3 in Houston, pushing their streak to 31 games and earning a share of the season lead. A hit today would vault leah past jsmnapoli and into sole possession of first place on the season leaderboard. Not to jinx anyone, but it’s never too early to start consulting jewelers — or D.C. train schedules.

2 more AB’s. Come on now!!

Make that 1 more AB, at least. If the game gets tied, and stays tied, maybe more.

@ 98 pitches, Hochevar may not appear in the 8th when your pick is due up. Is that a good thing or bad thing? Whether the starter or setup pitcher, you gotta hope 1st base isn’t open with men on base & with a 1 run lead, for now, cause he’ll be walked for sure.

And he was walked. Crap!!

Events occurred as I predicted. But you still have 5 outs to hope for a tie or bat-around.

I need a miracle. Rabbit feet and all lucky pieces are needed. Pray with me!

Sorry, you know I can’t do that. I never hope for the most picked player to get a hit. Just not within me. I even hope for that sometimes when I happened to pick the #1 pick!

No biggie. I’ll just restart this streak tomorrow. I’ve done it before and can do it again.

Odds are not good at coming up again in the 9th, but a tie is still probable if KC doesn’t get any insurance runs

meant possible, not probable. But the idea is the same.

I need 4 more to get to bat and put a ball in play for him to make it up.

Who said this game isn’t exciting? Bases loaded, top of 9th, 1 run deficit, 2outs & your guy (the #1 pick) is on deck!

That has to be the WORST possible way for a streak to end! >:(

I honestly thought he’d come up and either make the last out or continue your streak and 100′s of others

Oh well. Can’t look back on what I could have done differently. I’ll just look toward tomorrow and start that streak again.

That’s how my 17 game streak ended with Cano last night, with him being left on deck and A-Rod ever so close to beating it out. Speaking of restarting Brennan Boesch has just hit a leadoff double in the 4th.

Don’t get me started on Boesch. I had his name highlighted and ready to submit and said “No, I like Bautista better.” Grrr!

Until Mark ( 00Liber ) puts up the Top2500, here are some stats to mull over
- Those at 19+ games trying to get to or stay at 20 games or higher today: 113
- Picked J.Bautista 17x
- Picked J.Reyes 16x
- Picked Mi.Cabrera & A.Pujols 11x
- No other hitter was picked more than 9x
- There were 3 safe picks (Holliday, Soriano & Hanley) and 1 No Pick by a 19-gamer

Jus on route to work. Post up in about an hour. Last night shift for a while so posts will be up shortly after lock times for the next week or so.

For grins, I picked the same players in BTS & HRBTS. Hamilton with a lead-off homer!

Well, we’ll have a new leader tomorrow morning. With Miggy making 3rd out in 8th & DET up by 4, only chance leader has is for SEA to tie or take lead in the 9th.

The leader just went back to zero. That is unless the Mariners score 3 runs in the top of the 9th and no more. And then they must get to at least the 11th inning, maybe later. Good luck with that! Makes my fall from 9 to 0 feel just that much better.

Reyes just flew out to end the top half of 6. 1 more AB guaranteed. Currently 0-4.
Looking more and more like a mass cleansing tonight.

Good! Gives some of us a chance to get a streak going and move on up.

Couldn’t agree more. With over 100 streakers entering tonight that could’ve been at 20+ games, the leaderboard needs a good cleansing.

Not a good day to be named JOSE, or anyone that picked them.
Reyes now 0-5.

A bit more excitement maybe…. 2nd place leader knows well he is now 1st place leader. Probably wondering why he picked a D.Brown instead of Polanco or Utley. Anyway, Phillies up by 1 going into the 9th and D.Brown batted in 8th (0-3). Pretty much done deal, right? Wrong. Cubbies tie it up with a homer from Soto with 1 out. Very next hitter – homer too. Now Cubbies up by 1 and 2nd place leader gotta be feeling sick about now, But wait…. under review & overturned to a double. Cubbies can’t drive in the leading run. Now in extras and D.Brown will very likely come to bat again. The BTS gods were vengeful tonight, but they are teasing our potential new leader like a cat does with a mouse. Will he be the leader tomorrow or be looking at starting a streak of one? We shall see.

NOPE he will not be. CUBS WIN, CUBS WIN.
Currently sitting at 46.7% reset with almost 6% still on the board.

And if I counted correctly, of those 113 that could’ve gotten to 20 games or better tonight, only 56 made it. Good leadeboard dusting. Need another one which very may happen on Reset Weekends

not that it matters but i count 57.

Neither of us can count. Looking at the actual standings Friday afternoon: 55 :)
