Beat the Streak Report: Thursday, June 16

Sir Lancelot of St. Louis fell short in his joust against Livan the Ageless and the Nationals last night, disappointing 11.9 percent of Streakland’s loyal inhabitants in the process.

The rest of the day’s five most popular selections brought glory to their names and honor to their houses, however, emerging from the field of battle tired and dirtied but unscathed.

Polish your armor and sharpen your swords, gamers: Thursday is just another chapter in the season-long battle for the throne of this Streak game.

With the official scorer changing Miguel Cabrera’s on base by error in the 1st inning to a hit, as the game ended yesterday, I thought to myself: “Wonder how many that picked him and didn’t find out he actually went 1-4 instead of 0-4 gave up and decided to commit BTS suicide with a no pick? I am not going thru the 100+ Top2500 that picked him, but I can tell you this. The highest No-Pick today did pick Miggy yesterday. Just goes to show you, never give up if your pick when 0-fer and got on due to an error. Odds are the scorer won’t change the outcome, but it can happen obviously.

Yesterday’s Top2500 Reset rate was 34% with LANCE BERKMAN reseting the most.
There was also 4.64% PPD due to players not playing. These streakers do not reset, but did not increase either.

Ok. I guess we could throw that in there. Even though he had 3 more AB’s after the supposed error.

      • LaVolpe

I was just being sarcastic. Official scorer second thoughts to play a small part in this game. Bloggers have been known in the past to get burned or a reprieve due to in-game/post-game scorer changes.

    • LaVolpe

Vazquez came real close to losing is rotation spot last month. I wouldn’t be surprised if all the PHI starters get a hit off of him if he remains in the game for 6 innings. For today, picking against the Fish is as close to a gimme as there is in this game in my opinion. But the game is early & who knows, maybe he’ll settle down & throw a gem? Yeah, right.

      • 00liber

LOL, yeah right. I don’t think he’s pitched a “gem” since he was a Yank.

BTW, Miggy is good now too. Already 30% moving on.

      • LaVolpe

Still have some opportunities for big resets. Most important would be Pence & Reyes. Reyes will bat from the right side today, lessening his chances of a hit though he’s still hitting 313 vs lefties. And McDonald is no clown (pun intended), Pence may have troubles with him.

  3. nymets1979

Another stupid pick. I do this to myself. I have a great pick ready and then change it. 2 more ABs to go. *shakes head*

    • LaVolpe

Didn’t he reset you a short while back? I, too, am a sucker for him. Great average & numbers overall, but I just can’t get a good lock on him. He’s been off my radar since he reset me last week.

  4. nymets1979

Yeah, and I didn’t see that coming. He hasn’t pitched that well as of late and Bautista likes to rip ’em up except for when I pick him. Go figure.

    • LaVolpe

Yesterday was a good reset rate. Today is payback. Weekend coming up; they are usually good for major upsets. Unfortunately, I get caught up in them to often. I make it thru the weekends, streak in tact, like 1 out of every 4 on average 😦

  5. nymets1979

Thank God, and you guys!! I was doing some work and came back to see your comments before I actually saw that he had a hit. Nice!

  6. LaVolpe

Matt Holliday back in the lineups, just in time for interleague play. Should show in the picks list in an before tonite is over. Other returning hitters in past day or so: Soriano, Heyward, Hanley, Mauer (later tonite), Zimmerman & Kung-Fu Panda along with a few other no-so-well-picked-in-the-past hitters

    • 00liber

Hanley with PH 0-1, ‘Fonso just Homered, Mauer DNP ( Min played this afternoon) and Zimms already gota couple games since returning.

      • LaVolpe

Mauer was to be activated sometime after the MIN game was done. Should be pickable in tomorrow’s game, before it locks, if someone was so inclined.

  7. LaVolpe

Hmmm. on the BTS Results page, every single pick that played so far has gotten a hit. With 6 more remaining in the late games, could this be a 100% non-reset for the field? Ellsbury would have to come in and PH; else the other 5 are in the lineups as far as I know. I haven’t been playing this game nearly as long as some of you, but I don’t recall seeing all of the field’s 15 most picked players getting thru the day without one not playing or getting no-hit.

    • champion_88

Ellsbury just pinch-hit and is 0 for 1.

Needs 5 more batters to reach or extra innings to get up again.
