Beat the Streak Report: Monday, July 25
Marlins third baseman Emilio Bonifacio went a combined 5-for-12 in three games over the weekend, extending his hit streak to 23 games and bringing a played-out 13-year-old pop culture reference (EMILIOOOOOOOO!!!) back from the dead.
Despite tying Ryan Braun and Hunter Pence for the season’s second-longest run, Bonifacio hasn’t earned much respect around Streakland. The speedster wasn’t among your top 15 selections on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. He’s off today before a tough road date against Jordan Zimmermann and the Nationals tomorrow. We’re not saying you should pencil him in for every day in your future Streak queue, but show a dude on a hot streak a little respect.
I mean, only 10 of you are riding current runs better than 23 games, and nobody is over 29 right now. I’m not sayin’, I’m just sayin’: you could use the help. Boom.

Emilio Bonifacio: 23 games
Dustin Pedroia: 21 games
Cameron Maybin: 10 games
Carlos Ruiz: 10 games
Home Run Beat the Streak pick:
Albert Pujols: (22 home runs this season) vs. Astros starter J.A. Happ
One problem, the Yankees aren’t playing Detroit, so Cano can’t be facing Verlander.
isnt it funny that granderson, also on the yanks is showing as a mariner pitcher
He is?
why was Ellsbury of Boston such a hot pick today?
Historically his numbers are good. His L/R averages and H/A are good. Oh, and Davies sucks big time.
Most the Phillies big names already got hits today after just 3 innings; Rollins still waiting. Utley, Howard, Victorino good to go.
BOS/KC can have a huge impact on standings if Davies throws a great game, however unlikely.
Matter of making a point:
Bloggers Group: 11 of top 12 have BOS picks
Overall Standings: 21 of top 25 have BOS picks
When the Top2500 is posted, wouldn’t be surprised to see BOS owning 33% or more of the picks
Here you go Keith.
1092 –> 43.68% of TOP2500 took boston players
So, 2 things will most likely happen: 1) Very low reset rate, 2) Massacre
^^ 1 of 2 things….

Mark, out of curiosity…. How many No Selections today? Number seems to be hovering around 70 for past few days.
sorry missed it.
No Selection 45 1.8%
Thanx. Appears people aren’t giving up hope yet 😉
BOS/KC game in rain delay. Weather looks like their may be a window to play in an hour or so. If game does get played, will the starting pitchers be the ones pitching? Oh the possibilities with 43.68% of the Top2500 riding on Boston tonight. Wonder how many are hoping for short delay and/or PPD?
I’m one of those hoping for something. Whatever one results in my player getting a hit. That’s the one I want.
Just went back to weather.com; delay could be 1-2 hours (heavy stuff) with a 3+ hour window to play (light rain possible). If pitchers weren’t warming up; maybe Davies will be on the mound, else he won’t be, but who will? Potentially throwing a bunch of stats out the window, huh? Get your rabbits’ feet out; may need them
Come on, sing with me, “It’s gonna be a good, good night!” 😀
9:30 PM EST start time for Boston, per MLB TV
I just saw that and was getting ready to post. Saw it on a Boston Red Sox fansite.
Jon Lester is on the mound, so I can only assume that Kyle Davies will be pitching too. Thank God for that.
According to MLB.com, no pitching change. Should see Davies soon.
Thank the Lord, for he is good!
Well crap. Woulda been a good night to take one of my Rangers. Bot of 5 and they’ve scored at least 3 runs every inning so far. Currently 17-1 and my 3(Kins,Josh & Nap) in the game are 8-11 with 7rbis & 8 runs.
27 hits, 20 runs & M.Cuddyer comes in to pitch the final TEX inning. He loads the bases, with 1 out, then gets out of it 😉
How many times do you see an American League pitcher in the line up, in an AL park? Today you did. Cuddyer played 1B, RF, & Pitcher
I know. So much for woulda, coulda, shoulda.
Cano went 0-fer. Ellsbury & A-Gone also 0-fer thru 6 innings. Ellsbury due up in 8th, A-Gone maybe in 9th depending on score. This night could be a Monday Massacre!
I just want Ellsbury to get a hit. I don’t care about anyone else. Extra innings would be good too.
I just want Ellsbury to go 0-fer & A-Gone to get a hit 😉
Both can get a hit. I’m not picky.
Ok then
OK, going to bed now as a happy man. GL Lav!
^^ Both A-Gone & Ellsbury should get 1 more AB even if game doesn’t go into extras.
I’m done playing Beat the Streak this season.

20 Game Streak (6/9 – 7/2 ) Streak ended by Alex Rodriguez ( 7/3 at NYM )
17 Game Streak (5/20 – 6/7 ) Streak ended by Robinson Cano ( 6/8 vs. BOS )
15 Game Streak (4/25 – 5/10 ) Streak ended by Derek Jeter ( 5/11 vs. KC )
You did better than me, but that probably isn’t saying much. I’m done in a week or so – when 1st reset occurs in August
I will say that I did improve this season on getting the 20 gamer. This was like an epic run broken by 1 O fer. I had a 17 gamer, got an O fer and then got 20 straight (granted that there were 3 or 4 pause days during the 20 game streak). Without the O fer I would have made it to 38 or 39 (depending on if I had paused or not on 6/29 which was when I was first attempting to get back to 17 [woulda, coulda, shoulda when all my liked picks hit safely but I got scared off due to a double header]).

In Odyssey the Angels blew it in the 9th giving me my 3rd strike in the bloggers group. That’s what I get when I could have taken the Yankees, Cardinals or Rangers. Never pick a team on SFTC. 😦
8th inning hit by Jacoby; I think everyone in Fenway heard the sighs of relief from BTS streakers across the country.
LOL!
Back to back lucky days for me. Yesterday Berkman gets weak single in 9th. Today A-Gone gets hit in extras. This kind of luck not needed for a single-digit streak; kinda wasted if I get to double digits and don’t get lucky like this again. But I’m not complaining today.
