Beat the Streak Report: Monday, August 1

Since baseball is all about the sabermetrics these days, we present two figures for your Monday perusal:

35 is the Streak amassed by current leader doorsrule. Channeling the spirit of Jim Morrison, ‘Rule had ridden the storm to the season’s sixth-longest Streak and moved to within five days of matching Jonathan Roy for the 2011’s longest run.

3 is the number of days remaining to start a new Streak with a chance of reaching 57 games before the end of the season. That’s right, Streakers: Wednesday is D-day. Kick it into high gear now and you could be bidding $5.6 millon on concert-worn Morrison memorabilia come October.

My last 1st AB was Robinson Cano on July 22nd. I won’t get one today since Martin Prado is already 0 for 1. I’m hoping August turns out to be better then I did in July. If not I may not be playing much more until next season. Let’s GO Prado! Clap! Clap! Clap! Clap! Clap!

  7. vinny1979

I only missed 3 days total in July not counting the All Star Break. I had a great month and hopefully I can start just as good if not better in August.

    • gpearson17

I have a superstition about picking the same guy two days in a row. My success rate when I do that is poor over the last couple years. So now I don’t do it, even if the player’s numbers look good.

  8. nymets1979

Reyes has reset me because of that before. One or two other players too. Yeah, probably not a very good idea. I did get to 12 last year by picking Robinson Cano 12 straight days (almost) and then decided to pick someone else and lost my streak.

  9. box86rowh

A-Gone comes through again! Tomorrow I am going with Youk vs the lefty .2-3 in his career and he has hit lefties well all year.

  10. nymets1979

Right now I’ve got Melky Cabrera for tomorrow. But then I look at Adam Jones and he looks good too. May be one of those two or someone else. Orioles were going against another pitcher, but now they’ve got Simon going so that makes a difference. Late lock will give me plenty of time to think about it.

  11. nymets1979

Travis Hafner: .067 (1-for-15) since ’06 vs. Red Sox starter John Lackey

Asdrubal Cabrera: .118 (2-for-17) since ’06 vs. Red Sox starter John Lackey

    LOL!!!!!!
