Beat the Streak Report: Tuesday, August 23

Ladies and gentlemen, your new BTS season leader: Joe Turner.

The current champ summited Mt. 41 Games last night, reaching the peak on the wings of Troy Tulowitzki‘s fifth-inning single off Astros starter Brett Myers.

That hit put Joe in line for a $10,000 payday and moved him just 16 days short of earning 5.6 million real American greenbacks.

Twenty-one past Streakers have reached 41 games, but only seven have survived as high as 44 and none lasted longer than Mike Karatzia’s 49-day run in 2007. Joe — your real test starts now.

Well for all of us in FR-BTS, Perez let us down in 1st game of DH. Took down the leader too. Came in with man on 3rd & 1 out in 1 run game; gave up double & lead.

Are you kidding me. I had Mariano Rivera but switched to Chris Perez due to the double chance. The idiot Cleveland manager brings him with a man on 3rd and 1 out. Screw that Fast relief game. First I don’t get a save yesterday when I should have gotten a save now this idiot throws my streak in the garbage. Screw U Manny Acta.

Too add insult Cleveland came back to win so both closers blew saves the only difference is that Brandon League, the Mariners closer gave up the runs himself as opposed to inheriting the tieing run at 3rd base. It took over 2 weeks for me to get to 5 and now I have to start over. I better not fall into another BS trap unless I’m at 0.

Wish I followed my gut too. I was going to change Perez and go with MIN Nathan. Oh well, still time to start a new streak. Though reaching 20 in 40ish days seems unlikely

i dont know who saw this…. but tomorrow REDS-MARLINS game is now a doubleheader because of the approaching Hurricane,. so make your adjustments accordingly

Oh-Oh AlertLeader’s pick Teixeira 0-3 after 7 innings. Will see 1 more AB unless Yanks set down in order 8th & 9th.

He actually only needs 3 more Yankee baserunners to get Teixeira up again with 4 outs to work with.

    Certainly not far-fetched.

  6. champion_88

Well, Teixeira’s 0 for 5 coupled with Gonzalez’s RBI single in the 6th inning pushes me to 3 and keeps me on the outside corner of contention for the $10,000.

No more picks for me. Wife is at 5, with Hamilton’s HR, and I suggested she keep playing until her next reset or end of season whichever comes first.
Anyone already looking forward to next year? I am, horrible season this year in so many ways.
