Beat the Streak Report: Tuesday, August 23
Ladies and gentlemen, your new BTS season leader: Joe Turner.
The current champ summited Mt. 41 Games last night, reaching the peak on the wings of Troy Tulowitzki‘s fifth-inning single off Astros starter Brett Myers.
That hit put Joe in line for a $10,000 payday and moved him just 16 days short of earning 5.6 million real American greenbacks.
Twenty-one past Streakers have reached 41 games, but only seven have survived as high as 44 and none lasted longer than Mike Karatzia’s 49-day run in 2007. Joe — your real test starts now.

Home Run Beat the Streak pick:

Well for all of us in FR-BTS, Perez let us down in 1st game of DH. Took down the leader too. Came in with man on 3rd & 1 out in 1 run game; gave up double & lead.
Are you kidding me. I had Mariano Rivera but switched to Chris Perez due to the double chance. The idiot Cleveland manager brings him with a man on 3rd and 1 out. Screw that Fast relief game. First I don’t get a save yesterday when I should have gotten a save now this idiot throws my streak in the garbage. Screw U Manny Acta.
Too add insult Cleveland came back to win so both closers blew saves the only difference is that Brandon League, the Mariners closer gave up the runs himself as opposed to inheriting the tieing run at 3rd base. It took over 2 weeks for me to get to 5 and now I have to start over. I better not fall into another BS trap unless I’m at 0.
i had perez but changed him last nite to the rookie in atlanta
Wish I followed my gut too. I was going to change Perez and go with MIN Nathan. Oh well, still time to start a new streak. Though reaching 20 in 40ish days seems unlikely
i dont know who saw this…. but tomorrow REDS-MARLINS game is now a doubleheader because of the approaching Hurricane,. so make your adjustments accordingly
Tex just struck out in bottom of 6, only 1 more bat Guarenteed.
Oh-Oh AlertLeader’s pick Teixeira 0-3 after 7 innings. Will see 1 more AB unless Yanks set down in order 8th & 9th.
Oops though it was the 7th; just the 8th. He’ll get 1 more AB for sure. Got excited there for a moment 🙂
** Ugh, 6th inning, but ya’ll got that. Think I’m must giddy today
Bottom 8th; Teixeira’s last AB barring a NYY bat-around. Do we hear the fat lady warming those vocals? Drum roll please…
Yep double header tomorrow. FR-BTS pick will be in those games. Gotta get going again
here we go……
Misery loves company and Joe Turner is a bit miserable now, but may be 10K richer by Columbus Day
fly-out …..
He actually only needs 3 more Yankee baserunners to get Teixeira up again with 4 outs to work with.
Certainly not far-fetched.
Now just 3 outs with 8/9 hitters leading off 9th and closer coming into the game most likely
not over yet, with swish knocking a 3run bomb, we have a game again.
due up 6th in bottom of 9. Knowing BTS…. he’ll prob get left on deck.
Shissssh; don’t speak of such things
🙂
There’s a Jorge HR, getting closer…..
followed by Martin double….
Well, outcome is one of two possibilities now: Tex left on deck or he gets an AB.
wow, so what do you do here???? Walk Grandy to load ’em or throw to grandy
No, hope for out or sac fly & then walk Tex and force out at two bases
Well, there goes that theory. Leader may be very lucky today or just dragging out the inevitable
The latter
foul pop out in the NINTH. zero for five
foul out. unless Cano can plate a few this 41 game streak has come to an end…
Nice run Mr Turner.
There’s still one more possibility, but I’m not going to say it out loud
Phew. Now I can say it out loud: extras, but there won’t e any
and thats the ball game.
Now officially….. Nice run Mr. Turner.
And new leader a few games behind Joe Turner, moves on today with a HR by Hamilton
oh crap…game tied 6-6…Tex should get up in the 11th if the game gets that far.
Did you have that prepared just in case & accidentally hit the “send” button 😉
Game’s over
oops…I thought I hit X…never mind then
Thanks a lot Batista how could you go O fer against Bruce Chen? Not to mention 3 Ks.
Is anyone going to bother posting the top 2500 anymore this year for BTS?
If I’m bored I might but not gonna go outta my way to pull the data.
Well, Teixeira’s 0 for 5 coupled with Gonzalez’s RBI single in the 6th inning pushes me to 3 and keeps me on the outside corner of contention for the $10,000.
No more picks for me. Wife is at 5, with Hamilton’s HR, and I suggested she keep playing until her next reset or end of season whichever comes first.
Anyone already looking forward to next year? I am, horrible season this year in so many ways.
