Yesterday’s results
The start of the second half didn’t produce favorable results for many of the BTS leaders. To be more specific, it didn’t produce favorable results for those who picked Hanley Ramirez.
The All-Star shortstop went 0-for-3 vs. the Phillies, ending the 32-game run of leader ryancaraher and knocking two other contestants from the Top 5.
Fortunately, not everyone who built up a long streak heading into the break wound up on the short end of a hitless performance by Hanley. rook3256 went with old reliable Ichiro Suzuki (1-for-4) and sportsboom tabbed veteran hit machine Chipper Jones (1-for-4), successful picks that left them in a tie for first place at 32 games.
kd21 went the more unconventional route with his selection of Martin Prado, but he was rewarded with a 1-for-4 effort to take over third place at 30 games. Five more are tied for fourth at 27 games.

Beat the Streak Report 
As a few have approached the 56 game streak but no one has passed the mark, any thoughts of player selection over the long haul?
e.g – focus on one team and select a player from that team each day.
I tired choosing 6 players and picking on of those 6 each day.
What other theories are out there there guys?
Last day of regular season is October, time is running out
Picking randoms from one team isnt a good theory either.. considering teams will have bad games and your player might only get up 3 times… I lost a 17 game hitting streak the other day because Rameriz from Florida only got up 3 times and he batted 3rd…. picking leadoff men for visiting teams is my philosophy.. because they will at least get up 4 times almost guaranteed in a game

Thanks for weighing in on theories to get a long streak going. I agree with you and thanks for pointing out the problem of picking guys from one team only. I also lost 9 game streak on Hanley Ramirez the same game you did.
Ramirez was in the on-deck circle as the final out of the game was made. The Marlins got only one hit that night and this further makes your comment about not picking a player from one team only as great advice.
Like you I’m sticking to guys at the top of the line up who are free swingers at the plate. Walks do us absolutely no good at all!

Ya thats why Ichiro is such a good pick.. he never walks and bats # 1 in the lineup. I’m not sure what his stats are on the road this year.. but I would be surprised if he didnt get a hit in at least 90% of the games… I know ive lost a couple streaks with him at home because he only got up 4 times.. throw in a walk and a sac bunt which is rare for Ichiro.. someday someone will win this thing.. but I dont see it happenin this year.
