Beat the Streak Report: Tuesday, May 31

Happy Tuesday, Streakers. We hope each of your Memorial Days featured food from a grill, beverages from a cooler and a couple hits from your Diamondback of choice. The season’s unofficial one-third pole is in the rearview and the dog days loom ahead.

Although Canadian hero Joey Votto spun out 18.2 percent of all selectors prior to crossing the finish line yesterday, your next two picks — Miguel Cabrera and Evan Longoria — did manage to wave the checkered flag.

Offense was also up across the league as a whole, a trend we can expect to continue as the weather heats up. Especially in places like Texas and Arizona, the fly balls start carrying deeper and more floaters dunk in for hits once you tear May 31 off your page-a-day calendar. The hit buffet is open, gamers. Load up your plates and don’t be shy about coming back for seconds (or thirds).

Just an FYI. TB is starting Alex Cobb, not Andy Sonnanstine.
    Cobb’s numbers: 4.1IP,4H,4ER, 4BB, 8.31ERA.
    That’s where I’m picking today.

Keith, I’ll be able to pull today and tomorrow, and maybe Thurs. But then will be gone for the weekend and Monday, so if you could pull, it would be greatly appreciated. ( I don’t think my wife would appreciate me bringing the laptop for our camping trip)

No problem there. Friday & Monday are late locks, barring any rain-out doublheaders. Weekends are not an issue.
Thanx for the pitching change tip. I’ll have to relook at my pick. Time to re-research when I get home & decide on a change possibly.

For sure. With the early lock Thursday I’ll be able to pull. Were leaving @ about 1mdt thurs afternoon.

Also for anyone else curious, Kinsler is back In starting lineup tonight after getting the night off yesterday.

I originally had Josh for my pick but now backed off that game entirely. Just not enough info on Cobb to make me feel comfortable picking against him; been burned in similar situation 3 days ago. Anyway, last time out for Cobb, a bit wild walking 1 per inning. He’s got 4 or 5 pitches but fastball is only 89/90, and lasted only 4 innings. Today, going with an impressive NYM youngster instead.

Well, new month tomorrow, chance at starting it with a streak of 1 😉 Time to roll up the sleeves and give this game a good go.
Kinda interesting stats for these past 2 months for me — consistency, but not the good kind:
April: 36 hits in 118 ABs, 8 resets
May: 38 hits in 118 ABs, 7 resets
