Beat the Streak Report: Thursday, September 8

Current leader bysuag, who reached 36 games last night, really has a tough act to follow.

That run is tied for the seventh-longest streak this season, but the mid-30’s just don’t get us all kids-on-Christmas-morning anymore after Steve Summer‘s 48-game hitstravaganza.

Turn that first digit into a four, and then we’ll crank up the hype machine. We’re rooting for you, bysuag — you’re our only 57 hope.

    Some ideas for next season:

Increase the prize for the season long streak to at least $100K. This would reduce the stress one experiences when reaching the upper streak echelon (not that I have ever been there).

Add prizes for batting average and streak rate (monthly or monthly and season long). These stats are already being kept.

The grand prize might have to be reduced slightly but not significantly. Or perhaps not since the likelihood of it being awarded is slim. It would just be a matter of financing the added prizes, perhaps through added sponsorship.

To each their own opinions & ideas. All have merit.
I’d like it to stay just the way it is. Keep the goal difficult but not unattainable and the reward remarkable.
If there was one change I’d like to see; it would be to allow players to be rewarded for picks in double headers. Treat a double header as 2 consecutive game days. Joe D’ played in several double headers during his streak

I agree with Dave only because the difference between $5.6 million and $5.5 million grand prize is basically nothing, but the difference between $10K and $100K is substantial.

When I am out of the running for the Grand Prize, I find it hard to tell my friends how amped up I am to be competing for $10,000, but $100,000 elicits a different reaction.
