Yesterday’s results

Choterita held steady in first place at 31 games as his pick for the day, Felipe Lopez, did not play in Arizona’s loss to Oakland. That left an opening for adnaz to creep one game closer to a tie for the top spot, and Ichiro Suzuki (2-for-4) came through with the goods to push his streak to 30 games. Third-place contestant stubs_22 also picked Ichiro to extend his streak to 26 games.

All in all, it was a good day for the BTS field, as 13 of the Top 15 most selected players delivered at least one hit. With a full slate of action on tap, may the hits keep coming as everyone celebrates a happy Memorial Day!

Yesterday’s results

Life has been getting dicey for the BTS front-runners, as yesterday’s action resulted in the end of the leader’s streak for the third straight day. This time, it was Chase Utley’s hitless performance that halted the run of redlandsrick at 28 games. Might we have a BTS hex on our hands along the lines of the S.I. Cover Jinx and the Madden Curse? Let’s hope a savvy and fearless contestant proves us wrong.

With redlandsrick back to square one, Choterita took over first place at 28 games after tabbing Cardinals catalyst Skip Schumaker. adnaz and eric.hubler held steady in their positions behind the new leader, pushing their respective streaks to 26 and 25 games.

It was a rocky day at the front of the BTS pack, as three of the Top 5 contestants saw their streaks snapped due to quiet days from Marlon Byrd (0-for-3), Ryan Braun (0-for-2) and Ian Kinsler (0-for-4).

But redlandsrick was able to steer clear of the 0-for bug, getting just enough from Michael Young (1-for-4) to take over sole possession of first place at 28 games. Choterita and adnaz both scored a winner by tabbing Ichiro Suzuki (1-for-5), leaving them in second and third place with their respective streaks of 27 and 25 games.

The reign at the top of the BTS leaderboard was a short one for dustinhahn29, whose selection of Rays speedster Carl Crawford (0-for-3) ended his streak at 29 games. JohnnyV21 also fell from his perch near the front of the pack, getting a 0-for-3 effort from the normally reliable Albert Pujols to snap his run at 28 games.

That leaves jackstraw0018 and redlandsrick as the new BTS co-leaders with their 27-game streaks. Choterita and tjb0424 are tied for third at 26 games, and khaarer rounds out the Top 5 with a 25-gamer.

tyrules667 continued to streak through most of the weekend, becoming the first BTS participant of the season to reach the 30-game plateau. Unfortunately, that’s as far as the streak went, as Raul Ibanez went 0-for-4 with a walk yesterday to end tyrules667’s reign at the top.

Former second-place contestant jjdemarest also fell off over the weekend, leaving the path clear for dustinhahn to take over first place at 29 games. JohnnyV21 is a close second at 28 games, and three more enter the work week tied for third at 26 games.

It was a good day in general for the BTS field, as every one of the Top 15 most selected players collected at least one base hit. Dodgers second baseman Orlando Hudson was among those players, and his 1-for-5 effort helped leader tyrules667 tie the BTS season-high streak of 29 games.

The day’s onslaught of offense wasn’t enough for second-place contestant jpburnett232, however, as Alfonso Soriano’s 0-for-4 performance ended his streak at 28 games. jjdemarest, dustinhahn and JohnnyV21 extended their respective streaks to 27, 26 and 25 games, and five more are tied for fifth place at 24 games.

Ryan Zimmerman was finally thwarted by the opposition yesterday, going 0-for-3 with a pair of walks to snap his hitting streak at 30 games. The end of that run also spelled an end to the streaks of 8.7 percent of the BTS field.

None of the front-runners picked Zimmerman, though, and it seems the skepticism over his ability to keep streaking paid off. Top dog tyrules667 held steady at 28 games, as his day’s selection, Dustin Pedroia, did not play. That created an opening for jpburnett232 to move into a tie for first on the heels of a 1-for-4 day from Albert Pujols. The following three placeholders also held steady in the rankings, leaving intact five streaks of at least 24 games.

tyrules made a wise selection of Toronto’s Aaron Hill, getting a homer and single to extend his BTS-high streak to 28 games. jpburnett232 kept pace a game behind by picking Seattle’s Ichiro Suzuki (1-for-4), while jjdemarest took over third place at 25 games thanks to a 2-for-5 performance from sizzling Tampa Bay speedster Carl Crawford.

Oddly, you had to go all the way down to 25th place to find someone who picked Washington’s Ryan Zimmerman. The hot-hitting third baseman extended his own hit streak to 30 games yesterday, but apparently the BTS leaders feel the law of averages will catch up with him before long.

It was a good day for BTS participants to continue their streaks. Although only four games were on the schedule, there was plenty of offense to be found within those games. With the amazing Ryan Zimmerman (4-for-5, 2 HR) leading the way, the Top 8 most selected players of the day all came through for the BTS faithful.

The hit parade helped tyrules667 extend his BTS-high streak to 27 games, and allowed jpburnett232 to keep pace and move up to 26 games. Four more fans now own streaks of at least 22 games.
