Yesterday’s results

Todd Helton was the hitter of choice for many of the BTS leaders yesterday, and the veteran first baseman came through with a 2-for-4 day to keep several lengthy streaks alive.

Among the recipients was leader phadrus74, who became the sixth contestant this season to reach the 40-game plateau. mlbuser864 and thebcjman used Helton to take over a share of third place, at 33 games, while chuppie21 and roxandrays17 went with the pride of the Rockies to claim a share of fifth place, at 32 games.

Second-place fan tshalterman was the lone member of the Top 5 to go with a different player, but the result was the same, as Jacoby Ellsbury produced two hits to boost tshalterman’s run to 35 games.

Yesterday’s Top 5 most selected players

1. Dustin Pedroia (BOS): 11.0%, 0-for-4
2. Ichiro Suzuki (SEA): 6.7%, 2-for-4
3. Derek Jeter (NYY): 6.2%, 1-for-4
4. Derrek Lee (CHC): 5.2%, 1-for-4
5. Joe Mauer (MIN): 4.5%, 1-for-4

I just wanted to highlight a few things that I think some BTS users may have overlooked as I just stumbled upon them last night and their implementation (did these just get added?) may explain why there was no post for yesterday on this blog.

    1) BTS: September Edition: Your BTS pick covers both contests, but apparently there is now a separate September version. I believe there will be no leaderboard for this contest, since everything is in one place, but perhaps a new tab will open for it tomorrow.

However, since you need a 30-game streak with 33-36 days left to play, you mostly need to just worry about yourself.

The prize is pretty weak though, so it is clear that our suggestions have not gotten through to those making the rules.

    2) The News/Info tab contains links to 2 important sources of information: All-time streak leaders and 2009 streak leaders. The all-time streak leaders’ page shows the longest streaks in MLB history and BTS history, whereas the 2009 streak leaders’ page shows the longest MLB streaks this season and the longest active MLB streaks.

    3) Trophy Room: The ability to earn trophies, based on hitting certain milestones throughout the year.

Cano got two hits so far – great pick and a big thank you to hammanm!
    On to Thursday 9/3
I like Pujols v. Parra(L) MIL – Parra gives up mega hits, Pujols hits lefties well, game in St. Louis and Pujols is 6 – 18 v. Parra. I like him to HR too. Pujols hitting .347 in day games.
Matt Diaz ALT is on fire! Batting .418 for past 30 days, leads off, 6 – 11 v. Nalasco(R) of FLA, game at FLA, Diaz hitting only .275 v. Righties though.
What are your opinions on these two or others?

Tomorrow is the hardest day to pick in a long time. I am thinking about Ichie magic for now.

Pujols is a black sink hole. I don’t think I have used him once this year. I try my best to avoid him. So tempting but so bad for you. So many get sucked in until you’re sitting on front of the computer and sighing when they walk him for the nth time. Pujol looks good against anyone if they actually pitch to him.

Is Diaz even playing tomorrow? They have like 5 outfielders.

btsplayer – Your comments about Pujols are very accurate.
He could go 4 – 4 v. Parra with 3 HR’s or he could walk 3 times and hit a sac fly and end my streak – I’m off Pujols.
The Pujols v. Parra matchup looks too good to be true.
hammanm – Grady Sizemore is a well thought out pick.
It is a lefty v. lefty matchup but Sizemore hit Robertson well in the past and lefty hitters are hitting over .320 v. Robertson. Sizemore looks good to me as he is hitting over .300 the past month.
Matt Diaz is playing alot in Braves OF as a result of his hot streak.
