Beat the Streak Report: Wednesday, May 26
Suspended games are one of my favorite things in the whole wide world; the Beat the Streak universe goes absolutely ballistic and reaches DEFCON 5.
And dear sweet sassy, the Yankees and Twins game was suspended after the fifth inning yesterday.
Does my hit count? Does my 0-for-2 count? If my guy gets a hit on Tuesday but goes hitless on Wednesday, is my streak alive? If my guy get 34 hits on Wednesday but strikes out 87 times on Tuesday, is my streak alive? TELL ME NOW!!!

Let’s go to the rule book, shall we?
According to the rules, “In the event any Suspended Game(s) is subsequently completed within three (3) calendar days immediately following the date on which any such game(s) was suspended, for purposes of this Contest, all hits officially scored as hits for such Suspended Game(s) shall count as valid hits for the Game Day on which such Suspended Game(s) was originally scheduled.”
I’m sorry, I don’t speak alien lawyer talk either. How about an example, Mr. Rule Book?
If “participant selects Dustin Pedroia to hit on the May 4th game that is suspended. Pedroia goes 0-for-2 in the first part of the game that is suspended on May 4th, but gets a hit in the portion of the Suspended Game that is resumed the next day, May 5th. In this case, although Pedroia’s hit took place on May 5th, for purposes of this Contest, the hit would count as a valid hit for May 4th, Game Day on which such Suspended Game(s) was originally scheduled.”
THIS I UNDERSTAND!
You give me names, teams, stats and actual dates and I turn into Doogie Howser. You give me sophisticated jargon and weird parenthesis at the end of words and my brain turns into mush.
Bottom line: If you took any player from the Yankees or Twins yesterday and they get a hit in that very same game, whether from last night or tonight, you’re golden.

Beat the Streak Report 
I do have Votto tonight as I like the numbers against Ohlendorf. He has been hitting well lately and I like those numbers.
My husband is developing an elaborate strategy that includes looking at pitchers who allow the most balls in play (fewest strike outs and BB). So in that spirit, I’m going against Buehrle today. In the 11th hour I switched from Kearns to Choo based on last 7 days. I don’t know…..nervous about second guessing myself.
I can’t resist going with a Philly player against the Mets. Question is which one. I’m playing with 3 different email accounts so i guess i’ll pick the top 3 lineup guys.
Any suggestions?
That sounds like a good plan skater but I will say that if you do happen to get to 57 you won’t win since you are using 3 different emails. They don’t allow you to use more than one email account because I found this out first hand. As long as you only use one from now on you won’t have any issues. I forgot to mention I think that Votto is going to be my sleeper pick for today.

I never listened to myself yesterday.. avoid good pitchers.. I took Ichie as well because of his career #’s… ouched that hurt..

my wife said she chose jeter for today, i tried to talk her out of it, but shes stubborn. She needs mauer and jeter to get a hit today to move to 22
I picked cano for yesterdays suspended game, and my streak is now back to 0!
It’s funny because they already reset your wife’s streak bye.buy. It’s funny because if Mauer comes through today in that first game they have to put it back.

jagx – Your theory is worth exploring to get to 57. You should have a close family member register and do this to see what happens. You could keep us updated on the progress of what should be called “The Low Stress Streak.”

I think the no picks get reset an hour or so after the first game of the day is over. I’m not sure about that though.
yanksgiantsdevils32- The working theory is that all these people that get to the top pick 10 days in advance then forget to pick more. In addition to the few who say on the blog that they picked in advance and say…got to 20. I’m starting to wonder if the way to win this game is to pick 57 guys in advance. That way there’s no influence on pitcher-batter, hot-streaks, lefty-right avg, and home-away avg among other things.
Young extends his hitting steak to 12 games and my BTS to 15. Yippeee….

ichiro caused my streak to come to an end at 21. Bad ichiro. On the plus side mauer got a hit and got my wife to 21 and so im hoping she gets a hit with jeter in 2nd game to get her to 22.

I dunno. It’s weird, because they then go on to claim that you are not allowed to use any scripts, macros, etc. to put in picks.
But if you can only put in one pick anyway, why the heck would you write a script anyway?
My guess is that they threw that in, to cover themselves in case someone wrote a program to make 20,000 picks a day.

If I would of found out about Votto being injured before the games locked I would of switched to Young but now I can’t do anything about it. He has an injured neck and more than likely won’t play but good news is that those streaks will all be frozen where they are at.

taking ben zobrist for tomorrow against the under performing gavin floyd. hes hitting about .400 over his last 10 games and is 2-6 career against floyd and thats when floyd was actually pitching well. i really wanted to take teixeira tomorrow and his 8-10 vs blackburn but his performance this year forced me to stay away
Schenk, I am taking Zobrist as well. He is doing well right now and he is my sleeper pick for Thursday. Gavin Floyd is giving up more than a hit per inning and hitters are hitting .310 against him so looks like a great pick.

SUSPENDED GAME CLARIFICATION if anyone knows for sure — no guesses please. I’m looking at two players in the top 50. Maher_55 (Page 1/2) picked Teixera in that game who went 0-4 and jamie_ackers (Page 1) picked Morneau who went 0-2. Ackers hit streak increased with todays pick (Mauer) but did not get reset with the 0-2 from the suspended game. Maher_55 stayed as is since his/her pick (Mig. Cabrera) did not play but also did not get reset.
So the question is: Hits during the suspended day count, but resets do not? Or maybe BTS hasn’t updated the suspended game completely (will look tomorrow)?
they havent put in yesterday suspended game. My wife should be at 22 but she is still on 21 .
