Beat the Streak Report: Monday, April 2
Andre Ethier‘s National League Destruction Tour 2011 reached 27 games over the weekend, and plenty of you Streakers made it out for a show and an overpriced T-shirt along the way.
The Dodgers outfielder toasted the Pop Tarts for 7.2 percent of all gamers with a 1-for-3 yesterday, second only to Matt Holliday‘s 13.2 percent approval rate.
Ethier is now one contest clear of the current BTS leader, a gap that likely won’t be narrowed — barring a world-altering 0-fer — until L.A. takes a bye to recharge and refuel on Thursday. Until then, the show rolls on. Next potential victim: Cubs starter James Russell.

Sneaky move by LoMo to hit 10 games then go on the DL. After today, he won’t make this list again until he reaches 11. Get well soon, buddy!

Not saying it will happen, but could happen. Though CHC Russell hasn’t been pitching well, lefties are whiffing at his pitches. If Ethier gets past him today, don’t expect next challenge to occur until maybe the PIT series. They have a decent lefty (if he pitches that series) and flame thrower relievers.
Weather not looking good for the CIN game tonite. Rain expected all day, all night, and into the late morning next day.
I really wanted Phillips too. Settled for Holliday of the Evil Cardinals.
Votto was my 1st choice. Backing off to a west coast game for my 2nd choice.
Forecast changed a bit and rain most probable towards end of the game. Since I expect a hit within 1st 3 ABs, think I’ll risk with Votto today after all. If game gets rained out or rained-shortened, so be it.
I’ve got Holliday today as well, I’m going for 8.
And those that picked CIN or HOU rest today.
Entering today 61 enter with a streak of 19 or more. Here are their picks
M.Holliday 20x
M.Kemp 13x
A.Ethier 7x
J.Votto 4x (rained out)(one each @ 19,20,21,22 games)
V.Guerrero 3x
Each of these were picked 2x: M.Byrd, R.Braun, B.Phillips(rained out, both @ 23 games)
The rest were picked just once:
M.Young, A.Beltre, A.Pujols, C.Granderson, J.Pierre, D.Pedroia, N.Markakis & D.Freese(idle)
Wanted to go with Holliday again but used him yesterday and I don’t like to pick the same guy twice in a row. Actually thinking of going with Beltre today. He hits McCarthy well and also hits well in Oakland. Hoping to get to 10 for the first time this year! GL everyone!!
It’s funny you mention that, because my last two o-fers have come at the hands of guys I picked two days in a row (Fuku and Braun).
@Blanco21 you were asking about this yesterday so here you go, not really as bad as you thought. Plus LAD didnt play on Thursday of last week.
Of the 5 guys with 22+ streaks that took Ethier yesterday, 3 of them have picked him 3 days in a row, and 2 have taken him twice in a row.
Im not going to go much further back (plus all my older files are on my memory stick at work) but ill keep track of these 5 for you while Ethier is still on this hit streak.
As for today Im going with M Young. Being back at 0 again, he will prob get me a hit on his first bat.
GL to you all today.
You ask and so shall you get 😛
Though it was his 2nd AB. But I don’t think you’ll gripe
meh, ill take it. more importantly than my 1 game streak he put my rangers up in the game. so i guess double win for me
Godzilla ruined it for your Rangers and 2 of the bloggers’ top streakers. Another inning & maybe Beltre may have come up again.
Thanks 00Liber

No offense to those that picked Holliday. But I hope he goes 0-fer today. You’ll understand when you see the Top2500 stats. Also, those at 19+ games picked him 20x.
Well you want Holliday to go O fer so I will do you no favors.
He actually has a chance. Volstad has righties hitting only 174 against him this year. However, Holliday is hitting righties at 410 this year. One will win, one will not. We’ll have to wait & see. P.S. I ask for no favors
Should Ethier’s streak have ended yesterday? Don’t know, didn’t see the game live. But here’s rotoworld’s interpretation:
“Andre Ethier extended his hitting streak to 27 games with a questionable single seventh inning Sunday.
Ethier ripped a line drive down the first base line that caromed off Brad Hawpe’s glove. With the game being played in L.A., the play was a lock to be scored a single. “
