Beat the Streak Report: Weekend, August 19-21

The Joe Turner show rolls on …

A day after introducing himself to the BTS Report-reading world, our current leader extended his Streak to 38 games on the wings of Robinson Cano‘s 1-for-5 effort against the Twins.

Joe now sits alone in second place on the season leaderboard and is just 19 successful picks short of claiming the $5.6 million grand prize.

I probably needn’t be concerned about this but am curious nonetheless: How does one win the September monthly prize if a streak of 30 during the month is required?

  5. champion_88

Ellsbury out of the starting lineup, but it sounds like he is missing a game or two, so the leader’s 39-game hit streak appears safe.

There are 40 guaranteed pick days left in the season, including today, so there is still something to play for, in the form of the consolation prize.

Just to clarify, I was referring to BTS monthly prize. Here is rule:
For each calendar month during the period beginning as of April 1, 2011 and ending upon conclusion of the final game of the 2011 MLB regular season, a prize as set forth below (each, a “Monthly Prize”) will be awarded to the eligible participant with the longest hitting streak greater than or equal to thirty (30) as of the end of such calendar month.

    • 00liber

That’s what I thought. With the MLB season ending on the 27 of sept there won’t be ( I don’t think) a monthly prize, which is a monthly MLBtv subscription.

      • Dave55

That’s the prize for a 30-gamer. The monthly prize is a bit better:

One (1) Authentic personalized jersey, one (1) $500 MLB.com shop gift card, and and one (1) subscription to MLBAM’s MLB. TV Premium subscription for the 2012 MLB regular season.

There also is a 35-game streak prize which could still be won ($50 gift certificate).

when you can only pick ten days in advance and with that one using reyes all the time and now using nady, how many days has this person been able to do this, because it seems like he has been stuck at 27 for two weeks. nady was on the DL while this guy still was using reyes

      • vinny1979

I can’t figure it out at all Back. I was thinking it was a jumpstart pick but you can’t do it unless you are at 0. Nady has been on DL for at least 2 weeks.

      • LaVolpe

Actually that streaker at 27 hasn’t moved in about 2 months. He simply keeps up with DL and/or minor league moves and fills up the next 9 days worth. By the way, Nady went on the DL officially Aug 13th; so I’d expect you can see Nady as his pick for another day or two

    • champion_88

I thought about Hunter, but stayed away because he has hit just .195 in day games this year.

I am still alive now, but unfortunately if the leader moves on tomorrow, I will then need extra tiebreaker days at the end of the season to just have a chance.
