Beat the Streak Report: Weekend, August 19-21

The Joe Turner show rolls on …

A day after introducing himself to the BTS Report-reading world, our current leader extended his Streak to 38 games on the wings of Robinson Cano‘s 1-for-5 effort against the Twins.

Joe now sits alone in second place on the season leaderboard and is just 19 successful picks short of claiming the $5.6 million grand prize.

Friday report, there are 62 people with 20 game streaks or more…..another 37 sitting at 19
1st takes Cano
2nd takes Butler of KC
3rd takes Pedroia
Breakdown by numbers: Granderson is taken most. by 7. Pedroia taken by 5. Cano, Butler, Pence, and Hamilton taken by 4. Pujols, Cabrera, Braun taken by 3.

3rd place taken out by Pedroia.
Pedroia, Pujols, Braun, Holliday, Kubel, Furcal, S.Smith (col) takes out 16 of those with 20 or more.

Why, Braun, why? 😦 Well, that’s it for my season.

Saturday’s games.
63 people at 20 or more, another 28 poised right at 19.
NO one pick stands out today, 34 different players were chosen from the 63.
Jeter was most picked by 9 people. Braun and Cabrera (det) picked by 5. Hamilton and Cabrera (cle) by 4. Victorino by 3. Zimmerman, Gonzalez, Young, and Cano by 2

Well with Holliday giving me a giant eff u last night, I’m done for the season. If you need to find me or some of the other bloggers we’re playing ESPN’s Streak for the cash (450k grand prize). Search bts bloggers group. GL to those of you that are still in contention and see y’all next season. GO RANGERS GO!!

I’m done in SFTC until September as I’m unlikely to get to 27 at this point.

I probably needn’t be concerned about this but am curious nonetheless: How does one win the September monthly prize if a streak of 30 during the month is required?

There are 30 days in the month, correct? So 1 correct pick per day at least. Is this a trick question?

Lol. Season ends on the 27th.

I’m not used to the season ending early. LOL. But there are other sports besides baseball as 00liber pointed out.

Talking about streak for the cash? On any given day, it is possible to play 4 or more times

I shouldn’t give up just yet, but I am and will wait to start again in September.

There have been days where I was able to get 7 picks in.(usually on a weekend) 2 early soccer, afternoon bb, 3 bb props then a MLS game late.

Ellsbury out of the starting lineup, but it sounds like he is missing a game or two, so the leader’s 39-game hit streak appears safe.

There are 40 guaranteed pick days left in the season, including today, so there is still something to play for, in the form of the consolation prize.

Looks like Jeter might take out nine people tonite as he is 0-for-2 with a walk in the sixth

Asdrubal (replaced) already took down a 30-gamer, A-Gone has 1 more AB, and from games done: M.Young, A.Pujols & D.Freese took down a few 1st pagers.

Jeter just removed from the game

that killed my 17 gamer.. funny cuz the last two days i went wondering, and today i was SO SURE and look what happened

Good run on that 17-gamer. The way this year has gone for all, a 17-gamer may actually be something to be somewhat proud of.

17 is pretty good! I got to 19 and thought I may go all the way and….well that didn’t pan out.

well one month of the season left to see if i can beat the 17 gamer,
get that practice for next season

Just to clarify, I was referring to BTS monthly prize. Here is rule:
For each calendar month during the period beginning as of April 1, 2011 and ending upon conclusion of the final game of the 2011 MLB regular season, a prize as set forth below (each, a “Monthly Prize”) will be awarded to the eligible participant with the longest hitting streak greater than or equal to thirty (30) as of the end of such calendar month.

That’s what I thought. With the MLB season ending on the 27 of sept there won’t be ( I don’t think) a monthly prize, which is a monthly MLBtv subscription.

That’s the prize for a 30-gamer. The monthly prize is a bit better:

One (1) Authentic personalized jersey, one (1) $500 shop gift card, and and one (1) subscription to MLBAM’s MLB. TV Premium subscription for the 2012 MLB regular season.

There also is a 35-game streak prize which could still be won ($50 gift certificate).

Just because I’m bored at work, here y’all go.

when you can only pick ten days in advance and with that one using reyes all the time and now using nady, how many days has this person been able to do this, because it seems like he has been stuck at 27 for two weeks. nady was on the DL while this guy still was using reyes

I can’t figure it out at all Back. I was thinking it was a jumpstart pick but you can’t do it unless you are at 0. Nady has been on DL for at least 2 weeks.

Actually that streaker at 27 hasn’t moved in about 2 months. He simply keeps up with DL and/or minor league moves and fills up the next 9 days worth. By the way, Nady went on the DL officially Aug 13th; so I’d expect you can see Nady as his pick for another day or two

** It does appear he picked Braun yesterday. So he’s @ 28 now instead of 27

My streak is over. Dang you Hunter! I’m just playing for fun now.

I thought about Hunter, but stayed away because he has hit just .195 in day games this year.

I am still alive now, but unfortunately if the leader moves on tomorrow, I will then need extra tiebreaker days at the end of the season to just have a chance.

I wish I had seen that stat before I made my pick.
