BTS leader extends streak to 47 thanks to Ichiro

Beat the Streak leader spooky93 extended his season-high streak to 47 games Wednesday night thanks to Ichiro Suzuki, who collected a single in his first at-bat off Toronto’s Dustin McGowan and finished with a 3-for-3 night in Seattle.

spooky93 enters Thursday’s action a mere three games short of setting the all-time Beat the Streak mark and just 10 games shy of the $1,000,000 grand prize.

More updates to follow on Thursday morning, including the experts’ picks of the day and a recap of Wednesday’s other highlights on the BTS leaderboard.

Its kinda crazy because they started they streak on almost the same day!!!

Wow manofavalon (tied for 10th in standings) and I got hella lucky with our pick today. We both had Alexi Casilla and it took him till his 5 at-bat (4 official at-bats because of a sac bunt) where he barely beat out the throw from the 3rd baseman for an infield hit.

Ichiro tonight?
Polanco for tomorrow?
It might all work out.

POLANCO IS THE OBVIOUS CHOICE BUT SILVA IS NOT HALF BAD WHEN HE IS PITCHING AT HOME. IF HE WAS PLAYING AT TIGER STADIUM, DEFINITELY. AND SILVA IS DUE FOR A GOOD OUTING AND HE PITCHED MUCH BETTER LAST TIME OUT.

how come spooky always picks Ichiro and how come he never makes comments on the blogs?????

Did you read his interview ?

I DIDN’T SEE ANY INTERVIEW. ANYONE WANT TO INTERVIEW ME ON HOW TO START MEASLY STREAKS MULTIPLES TIMES?

I hope you don’t think that is a real interview..

What is 57 times in a row, statistically?
If you manage to choose a player hitting lets say, .400 against that night’s pitcher, and he gets 4 at bats, his probability of getting a hit is about 87% If you manage to choose that scenario (the ideal scenario really) every day for 10 days, the probability of a 10 day streak is .87 raised to the 10th power, or about 25%.
The probability, even with the best choice of player, of continuing a streak for 57 games is .87 raised to the 57th power, or about 0.037%.
BTW, the probability of spooky getting it right eleven more times is about 22%.
Last year I made it to 9! Woot!

scott m are u a math teacher

I know it’s not.

spookys interview is fake duhhh according to it his real name is probbaly spooky56

just like last nite, Ichiro a first inning single
The streak stays alive, now at 47

Scott, while close, that’s not quite accurate because the trials are not really independent.

If you can identify a batter who is seeing the ball well, a good pitching matchup, etc., your numbers would be slightly higher than that.

Hello,

Just a question, why the game is restricted to Americans ?

Hey how come all the leaders were “spooked” (no pun intended) and stayed away from Pick of the Day Dustin Pedroia? He went 4 for 5 including a home run in his first
AB!

because people like to let others pick the guy with a good percentage against a certain pitcher, so if he doesn’t get a hit, at least 10% of the players will drop to zero, and you wont.

for instance, Manny Ramirez yesterday had owning numbers against Garza: He went 0-3

I’ve noticed that the picks of the day really aren’t all that accurate.

I’ve lost several mid-size streaks due to taking their picks on days where there’s only 5 games and nothing else is available.

I mean they recommended a .157 hitter as a pick one time!!!

47 down

And only 10 more to go!

Wow! Can he do it??

This contest will be over just in time for the All-Star break.

Spooky93 will become a millionaire on July 12, 2008.

What a no-brainer;

NOBODY’s streak ends today!

There’s only one pick!

Sounds like this may be a scam. Makes good publicity right in time for the all star game.
