Yesterday’s results

Any big league manager will tell you that a walk is as good as a hit. BTS competitors know better.

Last night’s co-leader, garykittilsen, was the latest BTS contestant to fall prey to the free pass after Twins masher Justin Morneau went 0-for-1 with three walks in Minnesota’s tilt with the Yankees. If the story sounds familiar, it is. On Tuesday, July 8, exactly two weeks before last night, then leader mday1018 watched his 33-game streak crumble as Lance Berkman drew four walks in an 0-for-1 performance against Pittsburgh.

braunBTS.jpgWith garykittilsen having been given his walking papers, freebirdsince88 grabbed sole ownership of first place when slugger Ryan Braun scratched out an infield single to complete a 1-for-4 night.

Meanwhile, Top 5 newcomer lupah99 muscled his way onto the leaderboard after Albert Pujols churned out a 2-for-4 effort against Milwuakee.

Pujols, also chosen by second-place contestant Bailtard, was the day’s most-picked player. Overall, fans completed a rare feat by going a perfect 5-for-5 as each of the five most selected players delivered at least one hit in yesterday’s action.

Yesterday’s Top 5 most selected players

1. Albert Pujols (STL): 6.3%, 2-for-4
2. Chipper Jones (ATL): 3.9%, 1-for-3
2. Hanley Ramirez (FLA): 3.9%, 1-for-4
4. Ian Kinsler (TEX): 3.5%, 1-for-4
5. Dustin Pedroia (BOS): 3.2%, 1-for-4

Hey guys do you think Pedroia would be a good pick for today(wednsday) or pujols?

Jose Reyes is overrated. Most shortstops know where 2nd base is.

I’m sure everyone will go with David Wright tomorrow huh? Not a lot of games tomorrow and Wright has by far the best numbers going against a pitcher like Moyer I can just see everyone taking him. Just because he has good numbers though doesn’t mean he’s an automatic for a hit although his chances are probably a lot better than most going tomorrow. I’m thinking about picking somebody else so just in case he doesn’t a get a hit I’m not with the majority who took him. I’m thinking about taking one of my little unknown guys that nobody takes yet is hitting almost .330 and is pretty hot right now. Can anybody guess who it is haha….

ryan theriot

Ryan Theriot isn’t an unknown hitter.

And I just realized…did anyone play back like 6 or 7 years ago, when if your player didn’t play in a game, your streak ended and your picks locked 30 minutes before the 1st game, instead of 5???

No, not Ryan Theriot.

I never played back then but I can’t believe the rules were like that. I get my picks in 30 minutes before the game starts anyways but to lose your streak if the guy you picked didn’t play was a little ridiculous.

is your unknown guy denard span

Also curious as to why your streak ends if the season ends?

Why can you not continue your streaks the following season, as long as you have not won anything with it, the previous year?

This would make sense, especially in a long-term contest like this one, as a way to encourage people to bother playing in September!??

im taking edgar gonzalez tomorrow against the pirates. hes hitting .326 and the pirates pitching is awful

the leader ended his streak today chipper went 0-2

Steffen, I’m not taking Span. I’m actually taking the guy you’re taking, Edgar Gonzalez. I like that pick tomorrow too.

I’d like to see what has to say if the Mets hold on to this victory. He likes to bash the Mets, more specifically Jose Reyes, and Reyes hit the 3-run homer to give us the lead … I had to block two of his emails because he would send non-stop emails to me. I think he might be about 13 years old because I’ve never seen someone send as many emails saying the most immature things he sent.

gonzalez went hitless for the 1st time after about a week long hit streak so facing the pirates pitching makes choosing him much easier. there are alot of good pitchers tomorrow. i see choosing a padres as the only safe bet to extend a hit streak

i hate the mets and think the phillies will end up winning the division but i also dont understand kevindabears problem with jose reyes. he isnt overrated. he definitely isnt having as great a year as he has the last few years yet he is still putting up great numbers for a shortstop and leadoff man

A very surprising pick for tomorrow that probably wont get a lot is brian roberts of the orioles…yea they are facing a MONEY guy in halladay but roberts career numbers tell you hell pull out at least one

roberts is a good choice but halladay has been pitching very well lately excluding his last outing. i still think a padre is a smart choice going up against a rookie pitcher that has a 19.50era and a .576 batting average against him
