Yesterday’s results

For the first time all week, each BTS heavy hitter marched on towards the ultimate goal of 57 in a row.  Overall leader jagzrule77 notched his 36th consecutive correct pick by choosing Carlos Lee, who responded with a 3-for-4 night.

Staying on his tail and in sole possession of second place was thatsawinner, who rode the hot bat of Miguel Cabrera (1-for-5) to a 35-game streak.

Remaining in a tie for third were cwahl and phadrus74, who went with Derek Jeter (1-for-4) and Joe Mauer (2-for-4), respectively, to extend their runs to 34 games each.

Glad to see the blog being used to give tips on players before the close of picks for the day.
A tip of my Cub hat to: pyanidis, ohwow, lcfrancisco and spudart for making selctions and posting them for all to see.
Some great picks that got hits: Andy Marte, Shin Soo Choo, Todd Helton and Schumaker of STL!
Boy Friday looks tough: I was looking at Jacoby Elsbury but as I was watching the WSOX v. RSOX at Fenway he slid into home and hit shin guard of AJ Pierczynski and left the game.
So – I’m going with Derek Jeter on Friday – Buerhle(L) of WSOX has struggled since his perfect game and Jeter hits well v. lefties. Game at NYY – Jeter had an o-fer on Thursday. Any better ideas would be appreciated.
    Maybe – Joe Mauer(?)

Tomorrow I’m going with Helton vs. Lincecum – he’s hit in 9 of last 10 games and historically has done well against Lincecum.

Wanted to take Shin-Soo Choo tomorrow against a very hittable pitcher in Jason Berken, but the 70% chance of thunderstorms for the game doesn’t work for me. There’s a similar chance of rain in New York for those considering Jeter against Mark Buehrle.

Looks like I’m going to give Michael Young another try against lefty Brian Duensing. Young is on a 13 game hitting streak right now, so let’s hope he doesn’t break it against a lefthander who is not going to be confused with Steve Carlton or Ron Guidry.
