Yesterday’s results

A pair of BTS leaders got bumped Tuesday, as a hitless night from Matt Holliday spelled the end for Buhtter and diamondmike.  Both concluded with impressive 34-game streaks.

That left jagzrule77 — who stretched his streak to 35 games on the strength of Jimmy Rollins’ 2-for-5 effort — on top of the leaderboard all by his lonesome.  Keeping up was thatsawinner, who got a 1-for-5 showing from Joe Mauer to push his run to 34.

Rounding out the Top 3 are cwahl and phadrus74, who are tied at 33 games apiece.

Yesterday’s Top 5 most selected players

2. Joe Mauer (MIN): 10.1%, 1-for-5
3. Vladimir Guerrero (LAA): 4.9%, 0-for-4

Looks like it is time for another strategy change.

Was going to look at the lineups of the early game or games, and make sure I got a starting player, since two DNPs will end my chance at the grand prize, and if and when I go down, I’d rather go down swinging than go down with a DNP.

However, while the CLE-KC lineups are posted, looks like there is a 90% chance of rain in KC.

Since that is not the situation I want, I’m going to take Michael Young today. Others I was considering were Placido Polanco, Derek Jeter and Ryan the Riot.

    Good luck to all today.

You should include the next 3 groups of players in that group with a shot at 57. There could be a game that needs to be rained out at the end of the season.

Then, there could be 2 games’ worth of tiebreakers if 3 or more teams are tied for 1-2 playoff spots. Every year, I see there be coin flips for multiple scenarios that would take 2 or more games to break.

If you are not at at least 14 though, then I would group those remaining players into the quest for 46.

ohwow – As a Cub fan, I would suggest that you stay away from the Cub team in general. I saw in your post that you were considering Ryan “The Riot” Theriot today. The Cub team in is in a batting slump that has lasted all season. Yesterday the Nats whipped them at Wrigley Field 15 – 6. Picking anyone on this team is risky. Last Cub player I took was Alfonso Soriano who promptly went 0 -4 at Wrigley Field that day. Derek Lee is always worth a “look” for the Home Run BTS.
I would take Joey “The Black Cat” Votto before anyone on the Cub team.

    Thursday 8/27
I’m looking at Hanley Ramirez v. NYM Redding(R) Home game for FLA or Torii Hunter v. OAK Cahill(R) at Oakland.
What do you think? Is there a sleeper I’m missing Like maybe Pujols or Holliday v. Astros Moehler?

  5. peteryanidis

I’m either going with Pujols, Utley, or Braun tomorrow to get to 13. I’m leaning towards picking Pujols but I think all 3 will get at least 1 hit.

  6. ohwow

Looks like all the players I was contemplating got hits (including the ones I was thinking about in the CLE-KC game before I saw a weather report with a 90% chance of rain). I think I picked the one that made me wait it out the longest, getting his hit in the top of the 8th, but in the end, simply contemplating four different players who all got hits gives me the ‘Master Batter’ award for today.

Probably look at the lineups tomorrow and make a pick. Since the games start at 10 AM Pacific time, I may not be able to check before….so for right now, I’m putting in Todd Helton against the Dodgers and Vicente Padilla in Denver. If I can view actual lineups before the day games, I may change the pick….but Thursday day games after night games are notorious for giving players the day off.

Every time i set up my bts, i note the teams with the worst pitching staff in the past 30 days. Then i write down who they are faceing. Then i go to

I go down the list of teams who are facing the worst pitching staffs.

For instance today, Baltimore has the worst pitching staff in the past 30 days. That makes Cleveland at the top of my list. I look up Cleveland hitters in the past 7 days. Andy Marte and Shin-Soo Choo both have 10 hits. I like to pick two players who are hot on a team. If just one player is hot, then the team really isn’t hitting hot. I like to have two players with 10+ hits.

Gonna go off the board today. Seeing the starters in the HOU-STL game, going to take Skip Schumaker (.295) leading off against Brian Moehler (.299 BAA). Schumaker is 5-for-13 in previous appearances against Moehler.

Best of luck to everyone today.
