Beat the Streak Report: Thursday, April 21

The Shin-Soo Choo-choo train chugged to a perfectly adequate 1-for-5 last night, propelling 9.1 percent of all Streakers one day closer to an epic 57-game victory party.

You could do the cliche thing and just have the party at a McDonald’s with the ball pit, but you really never know what’s in there. Possibly sharks. We prefer backyard style, with balloons and streamers and a moonbounce and a ginormous Funfetti cake with 57 candles on top.

Oh, and also a clown making balloon animals. But not a creepy clown. And he should be able to make other stuff besides animals, like various instruments, so we could have a balloon-instrument air guitar competition during the party.

“Here I go again on my own … goin’ down the only road I’ve ever known!”

Busting out the Whitesnake in an air-guitar competition shows that you understand the spirit of the event, but you’re also there to win.

We’re just spitballing here. Maybe you go a little more classic rock with some Jethro Tull. Not a lot of people will be expecting the balloon jazz flute. On second thought, we may actually need two balloon clowns.

Or you could just have the party at Chuck E. Cheese’s. Your call.

When will Ethier go 0-fer again? Don’t know, but when he does, he’ll probably take a bunch of streakers with him.
Wright is pick of the day while 0 for last 18. I have a gut feeling he’ll break out of his slump today but… not willing to bet on it, may just be indigestion. Wonder how many streakers are willing to bet?

For anyone that wants to pick in the STL/WSH game, any wet weather should be arriving after the game is final, barring extended innings. As it looks now, forecasts indicate you should not consider tomorrow’s game in STL.

@gpearson, I agree with you on that as there is a scheduled thunderstorm for the start of that game for the whole night so I don’t think that game will be played.
@Lav, I don’t think Wright will get a hit either. He is so cold right now and I think it’s getting to him. I hate the Mets so I don’t watch them. Also Ethier is too hot and has to have an 0 fer coming up along with Kemp. All 3 will cost a lot of people if it happens today. Votto is going to cost people today as well. All 4 will be in top 15 for most popular picks.

Wow, a 19 game streak and they have a no selection. That is crazy! How do you not know about the early lock time when you have a streak that long?

      • 00liber

Well last years 29 was because, she had Pujols on Sunday night and it went extras and Puj got the hit late as she just assumed he went 0-fer. Coupled with an early lock the Monday morning = no selection with 29.

You would think if she had such a substantial streak at 29 games, you would wait to see the game go final or your player get pulled before getting hysterical.

      • champion_88

By the way, I do not mean that it is wrong to get hysterical over losing a double digit streak.

Stupid lack of an editing button.

      • 00liber

I know what you mean, there is NO WAY WHATSOEVER, that I would be going to bed b/c game is late if I had a 29.

What is with the Logan Morrison pick by so many today? I know he’s facing McDonald but that is mind boggling how many people including the leader picked him.

      • LaVolpe

Per rotoworld: “Johnny Damon is back in the starting lineup (as DH) for Thursday’s series finale against the White Sox.”

  6. vinny1979

Last perfect streaker is done if Morrison doesn’t play. He is injured and is awaiting an MRI on his foot so there are no more perfect streakers if that is the case.

    • LaVolpe

Per rotoworld: “The Marlins have yet to make an official announcement, but Morrison was seen outside the clubhouse with a fresh cast on his left leg, walking with the help of crutches.” I’d say he isn’t playing for awhile

  7. schenk015

he was getting an mri last night or today so morrison is definitely not playing today. so they are all just taking today off

Top2500 #1 selected hit already. #2 Pujols is making it interesting. Led off 6th with out & STL may only play 8 innings. Prince Albert needs 3 or more extra hitters to come to the plate for another AB.

  10. LaVolpe

Well earlier today, I said I though Wright would break out of his slump today and he did with a long ball. I guess that feeling wasn’t indigestion afterall.

  11. champion_88

If anyone happened to have Youkilis, he was removed early and went 0 for 1.

Not sure if there was an injury.

    • LaVolpe

Ichiro pickers get reset in one of the ways I hate the most. Due up 4th in the final inning… Someone gets on… Then that someone is erased either stealing or double play… leaving your guy on deck. A double play left Ichiro on deck.
