There’s been upheaval at the top of the BTS standings following an exciting weekend of action. First, the streak of last week’s leader, bj_hotfox_22, was snapped on Friday night at 28 games. That left room for two contestants, eagles08 and jenner43wilson, to take over first place.

Both stayed in the top spot long enough to set a BTS season-high mark of 29 games, but those streaks came to a sudden end yesterday. For eagles08, Torii Hunter’s defensive wizardry wasn’t enough to make up for a 0-for-3 effort at the plate, and jenner43wilson simply caught the previously hot-hitting Miguel Cabrera on an off day.

As a result, we enter the work week with tyrules667 holding down first place with a 26-game streak. jpburnett232 is in second place at 25 games, and two more are tied for third at 24 games.

The hit streak of bj_hotfox_22 is up to 28 games, marking the second time this season that a fan has reached the halfway point to Joe D.’s hallowed record. The streak was extended with the pick of Atlanta’s under-the-radar shortstop Yunel Escobar (1-for-4), perhaps a sign that this participant has the know-how to keep this streak going for a long time.

In second place, eagles08 extended his streak to 27 games with the selection of Ian Kinsler (1-for-4), and jenner43wilson is also up to 27 games after tabbing Dustin Pedroia (2-for-4). Two more contestants enter the weekend with 23-game streaks.

A hitless performance from Ichiro Suzuki derailed many of the front-runners Tuesday, but that didn’t stop the ensuing crop of leaders from selecting him yesterday. Their faith was rewarded, as the Mariners speedster went 2-for-5 to push the streak of bj_hotfox_22 to a BTS-best 27 games, and to keep jenner43wilson in second place at 26 games. Both remain in the running to top baltimore20’s season-high streak of 28 games.

You know the part in “Airplane” where everybody on the plane gets sick from eating the fish for dinner, except for Leslie Nielsen, who ate lasagna? That pretty similar to what happened at the top of the BTS leaderboard.

First off, the 28-game streak of BTS leader baltimore20 came to an end with the pick of Ichiro Suzuki, who went 0-for-2 with a pair of walks vs. Texas. But the selection of Ichiro also spelled an end to the lengthy streaks of nico27945 (26 games) and rbcaliguy009 (25 games). That left room for bj_hotfox_22, who had the foresight to take Hunter Pence (2-for-6) over Ichiro, to slide into first place at 26 games.

Who knew that picking Hunter Pence would be the BTS equivalent of enjoying a lasagna dinner?

It’s still early in the season, but we’ve already reached a milestone of sorts: With the selection of Ichiro Suzuki (1-for-5), baltimore20 extended his hit streak to a BTS-high 28 games, the halfway point to Joltin’ Joe’s hallowed record. Immediately behind baltimore20, the leaderboard held steady. nico27945 pushed his second-place streak up to 26 games, and bj_hotfox_22 and rbcaliguy009 remained tied for third at 25 games.

It was a short-lived stay at the top of the mountain for www.martymuzic, who saw his 22-game hit streak come to an end with Albert Pujols’ 0-for-3 performance. It was generally a tough day for many fans, as the three most popular selections — Pujols, Ian Kinsler and Jose Reyes — all went hitless.
