Beat the Streak Report: Colbert Challenge, Day 1
Welcome to Day 1 of the Colbert Challenge, Streakers.
In case you haven’t heard, @MLB will face off against Stephen Colbert in a Beat the Streak pick-off from today through Wednesday. If Colbert wins, he’ll control the official Twitter of Major League Baseball for 24 hours.
With a trophy case that already includes the Miriam-Webster’s 2006 Word of the Year, the 2010 Golden Tweet and naming rights to NASA’s snazziest new treadmill, Mr. Colbert clearly has some experience in the contest-winning department. But does he know his baseball?
Check back over the next few days to find out. Or, better yet, make a few picks alongside the man who once ran a presidential campaign sponsored by Doritos.
Update: Colbert has chosen Andre Ethier for Day 1. @MLB has chosen Ichiro Suzuki.

Leaderboard time!
Current leader CroFranjo survived the weekend unscathed, advancing to 30 games on Adrian Gonzalez‘s 2-for-4 effort yesterday. They’re now just one correct pick short of a tie for the season lead and a scant 27 true selections from the $5.6 million grand prize. We wouldn’t start popping champagne just yet, but feel free to raise a glass of sparkling cider to the big 3-0.
