    Dragbunt’s Great Experiment – Day #1
As a critic of the “Kings at the Plate” daily advice, I’ve decided that if you can’t beat them you should join them!”
I’ve got a one game streak going now. Beginning today, my pick of the day will come from the “Kings at the Plate” players only. I’m going with Ichirio for Monday 8/10.
I’m open to your advice on who to pick for Tuesday –
Jason Kubel, Hanley Ramirez or Orlando Cabrera.

People really act like lemmings. It would have been beautiful if Ichiro didn’t come through tonight and it almost happened. If you look at who is pitching, it really was not a good pick. I suspect the leader only has few more days before he crumbles. He can only get away with so many run-of-the-mill picks until it bites his streak off.

Please consider the following info as to the reason Ichirio was an OK pick on Monday. Game was in Seattle, White Sox pitcher Gavin Floyd is not the same pitcher on the road as he is at home, Ichirio hit well off Floyd in the past. Floyd’s road ERA is 5.76. Ichirio singled off Floyd in the 5th inning. Sometimes not over-thinking the situation is the best way to go. Would the game leader be better off putting the rest of his streak in the hands of Ichirio and pick him for the next 17 games vs. trying to beat the system with his own agnoizing pick each day?

I don’t know how you can say that it wasn’t a good pick; Ichiro was 5-11 off Floyd coming in. I don’t buy into any “lemmings” argument; there is a reason that he is picked so frequently. For example, this season he has not gone hitless in back-to-back games. I wouldn’t pick him tonight since he is 2-11 against the opposing pitcher, but he’ll still be amongst the most picked, because he is in best in baseball in getting hits, and that’s what this Game is about (not to mention he leads off and draws very few walks, particularly this year).
