An infusion of pinstriped love somehow seeped into the computers of the BTS field yesterday, as 11 of the Top 13 contestants picked either Derek Jeter or Robinson Cano.
Cano was the choice of front-runner phadrus74, who extended his streak to 41 games following a 2-for-5 effort from the Yankees second baseman. DoctorPeteRose also went with Robbie to remain in a tie for third place, at 34 games.
On the other side of second base, Jeter delivered just enough (1-for-5) to help out those who were relying on him. tshalterman moved up to 36 games to hold onto second place, thebcjman remained in a tie for third and chuppie21 held onto his share of fifth, at 33 games.
The lone member of the Top 5 to look outside New York, roxandrays17, went with Rays speedster Carl Crawford (1-for-4) to finish the day with a 33-game mark.

Todd Helton was the hitter of choice for many of the BTS leaders yesterday, and the veteran first baseman came through with a 2-for-4 day to keep several lengthy streaks alive.
Among the recipients was leader phadrus74, who became the sixth contestant this season to reach the 40-game plateau. mlbuser864 and thebcjman used Helton to take over a share of third place, at 33 games, while chuppie21 and roxandrays17 went with the pride of the Rockies to claim a share of fifth place, at 32 games.
Second-place fan tshalterman was the lone member of the Top 5 to go with a different player, but the result was the same, as Jacoby Ellsbury produced two hits to boost tshalterman’s run to 35 games.

Hanley Ramirez was the trendy pick among BTS titans Thursday. The dynamic shortstop’s 1-for-4 night helped sustain jagzrule77’s perch atop the leaderboard, as his streak reached 37 games.
Moving into a tie for second — also on the strength of Han-Ram — were cwahl and phadrus74, who pushed their runs of perfection to 35 in a row.
It wasn’t good news all around, though, as thatsawinner didn’t live up to his name for the first time in a long time, incorrectly selecting Albert Pujols to end a formidable 35-game streak.

A pair of BTS leaders got bumped Tuesday, as a hitless night from Matt Holliday spelled the end for Buhtter and diamondmike. Both concluded with impressive 34-game streaks.
That left jagzrule77 — who stretched his streak to 35 games on the strength of Jimmy Rollins’ 2-for-5 effort — on top of the leaderboard all by his lonesome. Keeping up was thatsawinner, who got a 1-for-5 showing from Joe Mauer to push his run to 34.

The three fans at the top of the BTS standings were aligned in their thinking Monday, as buhtter, diamondmike and jagzrule each went with Ichiro. However, since baseball’s single-season hit king was scratched from the lineup with a sore calf muscle, all three competitors held onto their 34-game streaks.
The same went for thatsawinner, whose streak remained at 33 games after picking Ichiro.
Heading into Tuesday’s action, thatsawinner stands alone in second place as rbier2000 saw his run come to an end in unlucky fashion when Carl Crawford exited Monday’s game vs. the Blue Jays after two hitless at-bats in the third inning.

The second-longest streak of the season reached its end yesterday when Joe Mauer wrapped up a 0-for-3 effort against the Rangers. Mike Hamman may one day put together another run for more than a month, but for now, his just-completed 43-game streak will be set in stone in the BTS annals.
Mike’s streak fell two games shy of the season mark set by Tanner Nielsen in June. In an interesting coincidence, Tanner’s streak was also ended by a hitless day from Mauer.
And because Mauer was the choice of the second-place contestant entering yesterday’s action (we’re guessing the Twins catcher may be on the receiving end of a bit of BTS-prompted hate mail), we have a couple of fresh faces at the top of the standings.
nicklarsen84, who received a 2-for-4 day from Derek Jeter, took over the top spot at 33 games. Motorhead slid into second at 32 games thanks to an identical 2-for-4 effort from Ichiro Suzuki, while diamondmike rode a 1-for-4 performance from Carl Crawford to move up to 31 games and claim third place.

The march to 56 continued for hammanm, who pushed his streak to 43 games when Ichiro Suzuki collected the first of his four hits yesterday. The BTS leader is just two games shy of the season record set by Tanner Nielsen.
Further underscoring hammanm’s amazing staying power, the two contestants directly behind him in the standings both found themselves starting from scratch at the conclusion of the day’s action. For Sun_Tenshi, who put together an impressive 39-game streak, the end came when Felipe Lopez finished 0-for-4 vs. the Pirates. jprin30571, who was up to 35 games, bid farewell to the streak following a 0-for-4 effort from Mark Teixiera.
As a result, Topiary took over second place at 34 games thanks to three more hits from Joe Mauer. nicklarsen84, who also went with Minnesota’s amazing backstop, moved up to third place at 32 games.
